I think it was from a 1988- 1992 Gallant. Didn't see the car it came from, I found it on a pile of other steering racks. Picked this 1 as the rack shaft was the same length and diameter as the ZX rack shaft If you want info on the mods I did let me know and I can send you drawings and photos
Getting closer to the big startup day AAC valve problem fixed, its now mounted on the side of the inlet manifold I've finished the wiring for the engine and sorted out the breather pipework and AFM Got the rad all connected up. I chopped and welded the ZX water inlet pipe so now I can us the standard bottom rad hose for the NA Next is to sort out the oil cooler and pipework, then I'll just about be about ready to fire it up
how do you handle the head f....k at least with the rest the parts just go back together you on the other hand have to solve tiny and large problems all the time
Yep. Dig through my thread. Removed CC and all CC lines. Theres a small valve / solenoid looking thing at the back of the car underneath that you have to cap off I believe. There are pictures. MoulaZX
Steadly getting there, should have the oil cooler and remote filter piped up by next weekend. Came across another problem today, now Ive fitted the intake the relay box don't fit any more So Ive going to move it to the other side of the engine bay, just below where the power steering reservoir used to sit. A bit annoying as I spent days rewrapping the harness and making it all tidy
its also possible to relocate it top to under the front headlight, and i believe ive seen it in the passengers gaurd as well.....some more options for you to investigate anyway lol
Tried that. The box is now mounted on the other side of the engine bay, I now have pull the harness apart and sort out the wires. Its a good excuse to redue the harness has some of it didn,t work out to good around the lights
Turned the key today Finally got it all connected up, oil filter and cooler filled with oil, water in the rad, battery fully charged, turn the key and well it cranked over and sod all else. Couldn't get the thing to start and there's no oil pressure. So I throw some fuel into the inlet manifold and the thing grawled and ran for a few seconds, but still no oil pressure So after all the work I can't get any oil to flow and the injection system don't seem to function So the big job to sort out tomorrow is to find the problem with the oil supply.
hey, its not all bad. it cranks, and clearly has some spark. that's alot more than most V8 conversions on here have achieved! are you measuring oil pressure from the cluster or from a stand alone guage?
Checks... Take a look through the service manual and make sure you have plugged all the oil paths. Some engines have a welch plug or threaded plug that is removed to inspect and clean the main oil galley. Make sure they have been fitted. Trace the oil path and make sure you have no pressure leaks... Then.. Is there a way to prime the oil pump? Often it can take quite a few engine revolutions before a new engine picks up oil. If you have modified the oil pickup did you check for leaks before fitting it. Is it possible the oil pump relief valve is stuck open? I know this will be driving you mad.. it would me.
How did you do your wiring? I found the wiring conversion sheet from Nick off Nico that I used to wire mine up. I used this and cross referenced off the Z32 and Q45 engine schematics. Some of it is wrong on the sheet, but it was a fantastic starting point. Send me your email and I'll shoot it off to you if you like.
