since my engine has been put back together, the car has been idling between 1500-2000....

completly removed the iaa and air reg, pulled apart and thoroughly cleaned and tested....they work well, and are giving good resistence...

check throttle body butterflies, and they are closed.

    tps is set .45.

    no boost leaks.

only thing i seem to be catching up on is my o2 sensors seem lazy on datascan/conzult....

does someone have the resistence values the connectors are suppose to give from the ecu to the iaa and air reg etc....i have changed all the connectors, maybe they havnt been wired correctly....

i have disconnected the ecu function and still i cant get the revs to drop...

its getting to me lol...

What about the coolant temp sensor? I am pretty sure if that is faulty it can idle high. Correct me if im wrong

i havnt actually checked the resistance on it, but datascan is showing the temperature like normal so i never bothered checking it....

i forgot to mention my timing is also set at 15.

the temp sensor would show up as an error code if it was faulty

I'm no expert but I think alot of the idling,

and hesitation problems associated with Z's are caused by the 15 year old severely heat affected engine harness. Many of the ends/connections no longer have the same resistance or even appearance of copper wire. Most especially prone to this problem is the det sensor and my old det sensor harness literally turned to dust upon stripping its insulation. Before replacing my engine harness my car would hunt and generally idle at 800-1200 rpm however since its replacement it remains at 600-650 rpm and it no longer hunts or hesitate at all, just a nice purring code 55. :D Prior to changing the harness I had at least 6 different error codes in the previous 6 months however since replacement I haven't had anything other than Code 55 in the same time period.:D :D No coincidence, touch wood:D :D lol

hrmm ye it could account for allot....but before i pulled the engine apart it wasnt like this....

ur zed should idle about 750....

but even if det sensor if faulty it shouldnt make the idle higher???? my det sensor was gone before i pulled the engine apart and it was idling sweet?

    logic

i can fully see the logic in that, i have been considering doing the same myself, about $850.00 for a complete new engine harness, i think it may be money well spent, all my connectors are cracked or broken and just sitting there and i have no doubt that the wiring and insulation has deteriorated as all plastic insulation becomes brittle over time, good call Zorro
    cheers

i dont think ill be changing the harness unless u totally need to...lol...

and before i pulled the engine apart it was idling fine...so it is something.

I got a US one from coz for about US$400 last year,

and the only minor hassle is that (lefthand drive)all larger plugs etc need to be rotated 180% but other than that I haven't had a code fault as I said or any other problem with it. It really is money well spent especially if you intend to hang on to your Z for as long as possible like me.

    ya i have...

i think im gonna try do something with air reg...im gonna take it out, block the open air pipe/hose and see if the idle drops....

ive opened it and cleaned it but i couldnt seem to move the slider while it was all back together....but then again the pressure of air is what makes that function right....

    hrmmm bloody idle

Just found my Idle problem today

Over the last 2 days I've encountered an idle problem in my Zed where the idle would fluctuate between 1500 and 2000rpm and there were no error codes on datascan.

It turned out to be the connector on the TPS, I gave it a little wiggle and the idle started changing. Opened up the connector and it was only lightly coroded so i cleaned it up and sprayed in some WD40 (Will go shopping ofr contact cleaner tomorrow) and it is now idling fine even when I wiggle the connector.

Just a thought, with the Temp sensor It may be possible that a weak connection due to corrosion can just send an incorrect signal without trigerring an error. My understanding is the ecu will only register the fault if the car starts and there is no signal at all from the Temp sensor.

    Hope this helps

I was considering a new loom

But have decied against it. Im thinking about running my own wiring setup to most of the stuff. Going to wire in the microtech and since I have to do new plugs for the injectors anyway and also going to run the X6 igniter again more new wiring figured I would just redo most of it. I just need to figure out everything that I need to wire up and how its triggered etc.

also if it's the temp sensor your fan will be running constantly, have a look..

Thats exactly what I had with my car also. Been tempted to solder that sucker into place:D

mm i will have a closer look at the tps connection

is there a page somewhere where it tells you all the spec values you should be getting out of each plug when tested???? i know i can look these up individually but is there a spec value sheet, showing the values of tps plug, iaa plug etc from the ecu....

p.s reason is im wanting to know the values comming from the ecu are that alot of the plugs were changed, and im wanting to see if they have been wired correctly....

ive checked the tps connector, and it doesnt change anything....

the idle prob continues :( :(

If you are coming on Sunday then just compare your car with another one.
