wow such high quotes everyone is getting from just cars.. i am really considering taking up this offer. didnt lie to them about anything told them i had 1 speeding offence for doing 8km/h over and that is it. told them i got the zed for about 15 (that was a lie was actually 14) told them about the na to tt conversion, price of rims etc. she put me on hold and spoke to her supervisorand i was told 1900 a year with 17k value. and im only 19 turning 20 this year.. thats low as! forgot to ask the magical question "even though it is illegal for me to drive this will i still get the payout?"
    see what happens

no if its illegal to drive NO insurence agency will pay out...

read all of their terms and conditions, any illegal mods or anything and no payout. anything against the law no payout.

    Nah no court appearance.

I just had a choice between loss of license for 3 months or good behavior for a year  Just filled out a form from qld transport I think and handed it in to them. I can't remember how many points I was on at the time or the number of points that was taken off me. Will have to check to be sure.

For the guys on P's with shannons, check this.

Directly from the PDS (product disclosure statement), read the bold point, you might be paying a premium but this is black and white if the company decides not to pay you out its quiet easy for them. Referring to TT's and states with power to weight restrictions.

I dont know they might not try to hard to get out of a fender bender, but if its major damage who knows, worth the risk????

Should read the PDS before purchasing insurance they all will have similar terms.

    Quote shannons PDS

    11. your vehicle is being driven/ridden or used by any person:
? who is not the holder of a current driver/rider?s licence that
allows the person to drive/ride a vehicle for the purpose for
which it is being used; or
? who does not comply with all conditions imposed on
    their licence.

How on earth did you get such a good quote topher? Just Cars quoted me $1,850 premium per year, $1,800 excess should ANYTHING happen!!!!!!!!   and all that to insure my Z for $8,000!                     and to top it off, just cars are the only company who would insure me, no one else will touch me!!!                           so I have no choice!   And I have no bad record! Only lost 2 points off my licence well over 2 years ago. However my last Z was stolen, so that could be the problem. Oh, and I am trying to insure a 1989 manual tt 2+2, with rims, custom sound system, dvd player, exhaust, pod, + more mods to come, & they refuse to go over $8,000! What dickheads

Don't bother wasting your money!! No matter what you're paying as a P plater in vic (not sure about other states) you will not get payed out if you are in an accident... mind you those kinda figures in your quote are unheard of from those JCI pricks!!! Hopefully you can have that kind of luck when you call them up when you're off your P's

Check your quote from just cars

It took 3 goes before they got the right 300zx. Each time they'd put down what I beleive was the Z31 because things just didnt match up which also explains the low value. Eg they'd put down single turbo etc. I also noted that quite often they would uncheck the "privately imported" option even though I put it in. On my final quote it was still unchecked however the car type specifically said "IMPORTED" so this is covered. But yer it was very frustrating having to explain to them on the third time in great length about the different models of the 300zx and years they were made and models available etc. Yes i seriously wrote the history of the car before they got it right.

I was 24 and 11months, first car in my name.

rang up shannons and they told me to go with just cars for a year.

Just cars insure my car for $7800!!
    premium is $1070
    excess $500
    car excess $500

not sure what under 25 excess is

I'm in the process of switching to shannons now
    $1015 premium
    and agreed value of $14,000

    Yer its not very good

Best I could get out of Just cars for full comp was $1600 premium for $13k insured value, excess of about $1600.

Yer pretty sucky. I ended up going full comp with them. Im 21 and have had full comp insurance previously with a 55% no claim bonus (eg no claims ever).

I'd like to know if show cars are insured or if there is ANY insurance company that will insure a 'show quality' car for what it is worth.

I have called like 20 places and none of them would even go near what i've spent on my car.

Maximum was like $30k, but they wouldn't cover stereo, which is kinda pointless cause thats one of the most expensive things in the car.

    hmmm

Mine was $1700 per year from just car for $14K and my car has nothing but boost controller, turbo timer, 18inch wheels momo steering wheel, exhaust tip and immobilizer.

Wonder why they gave me 14K cover when they give others 8K??
And mine is an 89 Man TT. Some of you guys have newer cars with more mods and can't get covered for more than 10K ...???

    And I am under 25.

Mind you I gave up with it all and just paid $550 for third party fire and theft this year. I trust myself not to cause an accident and for two years worth ($3400) you could buy all the second hand spare parts to repair a major crash.
