hey guys, getting very close to finally biting the bullet and getting a lovely zed nonturbo one that is:)

anyways can anyone recommend any insurers? i've been looking at the big ones, so far the price for comprehensive is pretty expensive (around 3k a year) since i'm a green p plater, not really a huge deal as i have the funds available, but anyone know good insurers who would take it lower than that? or should i just accept the reaming i'm about to get?

3k? wtf. who quoted you that??

after reading your post i called up just cars insurance for a laugh and to my suprise they werent even expensive (i called last year and was quoted 4k  )
1.8k full comp agreed value of 17k (cant remember the excess quoted) i am a p-plater with a twin turbo zed and that price is with all the mods i have listed (also included that it was an NA to TT conversion too)
someone musta knocked out their boss coz they arent half bad now

how on earth did you get an agreed of 17

I argued the point and they wouldn't cover my '89 TT 2+2 manual for more than $11K !

    Agreed value of 17?

I'm on my open license, 27 y.o. and despite the mods I could list and prove with receipts (over $5k), Just Cars wouldn't go above $13k.

1990 TT 2+2 auto, no mods, agreed value $15k, $695 year, rating 1, mature aged driver, no under 30s. Melb metro off street parking. Torque Insurance. I was the one who stipulated the $15k last year. No change this year.

When this years renewal came in (same premium as last year) I thought about ringing around. But in the end could not be bothered.. With Torque there is none of the smoke and mirrors like Shannons who often (but not always) talk about limited km per year.

I've been looking around also.. 1991 NA 2+2 coilovers, exhaust/extractors/headers, wheels, sound system was over $4k to insure for $8k (which is pretty stupid) from Just cars. Young and Cool quoted just over $2k. Not sure who else I can try for those mods. I'm 20, green P's, 1 license suspension (3 months).

    Good behaviour?

Does your insurance change if you've been on good behaviour not suspension of license? Can they check that kind of stuff?

I'm not quite sure.. I forgot to mention I have a 30% no claim bonus with Just Cars which seemingly had more of an effect on Young&Cool... If I can't find anything better within the next week I'll probably go with them..

If they ask and you lie, they will insure you. Right up to the point where you are involved in an accident and want money from them.

Just cars doesn't care about traffic infrigements so long as you haven't lost your license. Drunk driving is different.

So best to tell them or not?

If they ask I won't lie but if they don't should you go out of your way to tell them you have been on good driving behaviour?
    Cheers:)

ive just called up everywhere for my new car... 3 places said yes...
shannons doesnt do under 24's anymore.
young and cool said 2900 a year,
just cars said 2500 a year
    famous said 1900 a year

just cars also has like double exess of everywhere else.

famous is also good because they dont replace value ... they replace the entire car, look for one with same mods n condition etc. even if it costs them 15k for a 12k car.

btw im 20, opens this year, no infringements, 1 previous claim, TT car, kitted mags etc.

They usually ask have you had accident in past 5 years, license suspension, drink driving..

good driving behaviour - do you go to court to get that ???

CGU insurance has always been good to me...

    $340/y - no under 25 driver..
