Vic drivers are getting battered around

quite a bit lately and it appears to be getting worse by the day.
Soon they'll have everyone sliding around on their ass because it's to dangerous to walk on the footpath.:pPerhaps some driver training is required so they realize how dangerous some of their stunts can be. :YD

Flame me but I reckon P platers

should NOT be allowed to drive turbo or other cars with a certain power level. Let them drive Ford Kas for a year or two. :D I can't believe the number of time some wanker in a Supra or GTR flys by me and there's a P plate on it, or a turbo Pulsar (he he he) going ptshh ptshh trying to get me to drag. As my dear old dad used to say "temporary Australians"Let the flaming begin
    cheers

it will allways be a few dickheads that....

spoil everyone else's fun. I agree that there are to many idiots on the road that don't understand the meaning of a time and a place, but i also don't apreciate the generalisation that all P platers are sitting in there fully sick modified cars hooning on a Friday night trying to race everyone.Yeh, I own a sports car and I'm on my P's but the difference is that some of us do possess more than just half a brain and don't wish to drag (which personally i think is a useless sport as i it mostly relies on car power as apposed to driving talent). Most don't understand that there are race tracks all around Australia were you can fang around all day.to finish my bitching i will admit that i speed abit and have had my licence suspended a few times for excessive speeds, but there has got to be better ways to deal with the issue than ban a Friday and Saturdays for P platers. I drive to work most of the time and work late on a Friday, then what...i walk home?? i don't think so!P.S. sorry if i piss anyone of but they are my views on the issue and i don't wish to start off a debate on this, I'm just expressing my opinion.

Make that two for the flaming

I agree that there should be power-to-weight limitations on P-Plate drivers. When I learnt to drive ("iinn mmyy ddaayy") you got dad's/mum's hand-me-down car that handled like a piece of sh|t, weighed 2 tonnes, was built like a brick-outhouse, and was a handful to drive in the dry let alone the wet at low speed, you used the doors as air-brakes because that is how effective the drums-brakes were {got to love the Kingwood}.NNooww aa ddaayyss, yyoouu kkiiddss can get a real sports car for the same price as a boring 2nd-hand family sedan. Difference is these cars performance is SO MUCH BETTER then yester-years cars that the lose-point is at a relatively higher speed, hence the results of the crash are relatively lot more horrific.

There is a power to weight limit for P plate

drivers in Victoria which prohibits them from driving such cars as the 300ZX TT and other high performance vehicles. The problem is that the drivers just don't care, I know I didn't when I was on my P's (back in the day). Young drivers can be/are responible, but there are alot that spoil it for others and give young drivers a bad image.

    Okay - I hate generalising but >>>

I reckon 90% - 95% of the time some di&khead cuts me off, undertakes, "forgets" to use an indicator, overtakes then pulls in less that 2 meters in front of me or tail gates there is a fuc%^n Green and white P-Plate on their car!!!:x:x:xNow, I know not all P-Platers are this reckless - but it is certainly more than a minority... It has got to the point where almost every time I see someone doing something really stupid in traffic all I have to do is look for the P-Plate and THERE IT IS!!! :xHave to note - very rarely see this behaviour from L-Platers or those Red and white P-Plates - it is always the Green and White P-Platers... I think its a case of a little experience and WAY TOO MUCH over confidence...I don't know what/if anything should be done about it - but it is a very obvious observation...

It's not the age, its the mentality..>

Some poeple are just plain stupid and will still be doing the same shit if they make it off their P's.
And their is a Power/weight restriction in Vic 125kw/tonne or 3.5L/tonne. But the penalty is only $105 and no points.

Nah man..... im a P plater wit turbo car

Im not a great driver, i try my best but no one is perfect.I know people who have been in 5+ accidents in a couple years driving, at their own fault, in total sh*tbox's...like a 1985 laser/barina etc...
And ive got a turbo car and still got 18months on p's to go, and im yet to be in a accident, i know that day will come, i just hope im not at fault.

it is how bad an accident.

The more powerful the vehicle (in the wrong hands) the more potential for a major accident.

Dont let it get to ya..

..they are always picking on P-platers, and everyone has been one and knows what its like. At least a p-plater can do highway speeds now, when I was on my p's you could only do a maximum of 80kph, farken dangerous when out on the f3!

LOL @ you, scared of P platers

My mind is nice and fresh, Im running like clockwork (thankyou very much) I have perfect vision matched with perfect hearing, combined with the fact I know how to drive a car. There is a far greater threat out there, its all you middle agers out there heading happily to senality, or so much closer than I am, vision failing, hearing diminishing, reflexes dulling, and the Elderly in any kind of vehicle faster than a Zimmer frame? FORGET IT! The number of times Ive nearly been wiped out by some geezer too old to even shut their own gob, or seen them run countless red lights when they get frightened by their surroundings, If you want one age group off the road, then lets not stop at one end of the scale, lets tip the other end off too, then only 30-50 yro's will be allowed to drive at all, think about that why dont you. This is the younger end of the scale standing up for its self btw :p

    lol, good point, besides.....

everyone was young, dumb and full of cum, so if they sit there critising what we are like (when i was your age....yada yada), i'm sure all the oldies did their fair share of silly things in there time. Also the Carr gov't isn't thinking....... how does it improve driver skill if P-Platers arn't allowed to drive?!?!?!? am i the only one who has noticed the abserdity of this? shouldn't the gov't concentrate on driver training not banning?

And Oni, i may admit to the bending the rules alittle, but mate there is a diffrence between silly and stupid and i like to think i'm not a moron draging other idiots on a friday night at george st or brighton.

you have no idea the shit i have to put up with, i get pulled over nearly ever day just going home from work because i live in bondi. Every fuckstick comes down to my area and does burnouts in the carpark at the beach and all i'm trying to do is get home.
nuf said.......:-Z no hard fealing guys......i think ill head back to the z related forum now...

    Wasn't the Carr Govt.....

... was the motorists friends the NRMA!!!
Strange as it may seem the Carr govt and NSW police are relatively Car & Driver friendly compared to the the draconian laws (and enforcement) in some other states.
BTW Gazza NSW P1 drivers(red P plates) must "Observe a maximum speed limit of 90 km/h." not highway speed! and P2 drivers (green p plates) must"Observe a maximum speed limit of 100 km/h" again not quite highway speed.

    max- 125Kw/1000kg

In Victoria that's the max power to weight ratio that a P plater is ment to drive on. I know this cause i'm get'n my P's in 10 months. :)
I have heard of people getting weights professional installed into their cars to weigh them down so they meet the ratio.Whats the power:wheight of the stock standard Z's anyway just out of curiosity? Both NA and turbo?Shaun

Whats the go with the diffrn't color Plates?

Here in Victoria we just have have the yellow and balck 'L's that you can get when your 16 then your red & white 'P's that you can get at 18 and keep till your 21.What's with the green P's?And yes people, us L platters do follow the same road rules as everyone else, including the use of the full speed limit, we just arn't allowed to pull a trailer thats all. That's in Vic anyway. What would happen if I'm on my Victorian P plates and drove into NSW, any restrictions?

Is that power at the wheels????

or at the engine?? anyway, the NA puts out about 165kw at the engine, in stock form with a healthy engine and the car weighs about 1500kg (im just generalising between 2 seaters and 2+2). TT I think is about 210Kw at the engine (correct me please TT boys)in stock form. You do the maths..:)CheersJEDI-77
