Which employee - there has never been a skidpan event cancelled because its been too wet. I can show you photos of a day when there were huge bow waves off the front tyres. Was a competitive event too, nothing stopped.

I can see them stopping the V8 drives, but more so because the cars aren't driven by the owners, people are driving cars owned by the AHG Driving Centre.

Wet days are the best, you learn so much more about car control, its far less stressful on a car too and you don't need huge horsepower to get the back end out. The only downside to them is that if there is constant drizzle/rain it can be a bit crap being outside (or jumping in and out of cars as I normally do).

You are correct, it is NOT a drift course, but sideways is ok as long as its not setup BEFORE the corner and no corners are to be setup for a drift on the handbrake (Hairpins exempted of course!).

The employee was middle aged lady who ran the times and directed the MR2 event i participated in. People asked about cancellations and the weather and she mentioned it had been cancelled once or twice due to torrential downpour. She also said it was a go for rain, hail or shine.

Handbrake is for wusses anyway, lol!

Rain hail or shine, these performance driving days are for the win anyway!

Hey Franz do you have anything to do with the thursday/friday arvo tuning days?

I had been checking it but had not updated because it still remained at Showery Periods. If it is a day like today that will be great.

Handbrakes are for wusses... sorry, I forget, how many D1 rounds have you won? :p

I generally don't work there during the week as I have a full time job that seems to get in the way! :( ...if you have any questions, I hopefully can answer them, in the past I have facilitated a few.

    LOL

    Was exaggerating a little there!

I know I am yet to earn a DA championship, but I am hoping to compete in superdrift next year!

LOL, the main reason I can't use mine is that its a drum handbrake, so yeah it works GREAT... twice to three times... then its too hot to do anything! So not really usable as I can never practice the lines well enough to use in a battle :(

hehehe ... all good... least you're out there, far more than most can say!

Drum brakes arent that bad; just need better shoes in there. But of course hydraulic off disc brakes work even better!

I've got Endless handbrake shoes in my Evo, they work freaken awesome and repeatedly too! They aren't cheap, but IMO they are well worth it!

    ahhhh

So EVO's have a drum handbrake setup similar to the Z then?

Yeah I want a twin caliper setup on the rear of the 86 eventually... that's somewhat down the list though for now!

Its a shame you won't be there on saturday, I have fixed up the handling quite a bit (the problem was mainly cause by the low spring rate of the rear springs) and also changed out the motor for the GZE which pulls quite a bit more!

Oh well, hopefully you get a chance to see it going before I get posted to victoria again!

    POSITION AVAILABLE!

if anyone is keen on going then let me know and you can have my spot.

motor install was delayed coz we couldnt get our hands on an engine mount in time and will proly have the motor in tonight but it wont be running til the ecu is tuned... which wont be til next fortnight :(

i still have the option of borrowing a mates silvia but dont really want to flog the guts out of a car thats not mine, so if there is anyone that is really keen to go, i am happy to give up my spot.

also if you dont have a helmet then dont stress - we have 3 in the cupboard that i can bring for ppl to use (range of sizes)
