This is going to court.... Unless someone wants to be charged with contempt, the details of this case should not be on public display! How many times do you hear radio announcers, journalists etc say they cant reveal the details of a case? If they did (and some have) they get in a world of trouble and it stuffs up the case usually resulting in guilty people being let off on technicalities....

Are you sure that he can't talk about the case here? He's the one involved, I would think he can say what he likes about it, as long as he doesn't show contempt of court (and even that may only apply once you're sworn in or in the court room).

The problem is also when everyone gives their 2 cents on the matter and what they think of the people involved. eg 'nail the bastards'. Now given what we have been told, its deserved, but can still lead people into hot water. Prosecutors love to twist words and make things sound completely out of context and in the worst possible way at times. Every detail of the account given in this thread and the one before could have been watched, and a transcript printed off for a prosecutor. Now if your future was on the line would you want someone who is paid $$$ to tear you apart to be looking at this? If it were me, I would request that both threads get deleted or moved into a forum only the moderators can access for the time being.
I remember a story about John Laws, calling someone 'scum' on his radio show when a case was being heard and got in deep shite for contempt. And the guy really was a scum anyway!

i will hazard a guess as to why you were charged with multiple offences. basically they can charge you with anything, they may have very little evidence, but what they can then do is a "plea bargain", or basically blackmail in my opinion. they will offer a charge that you plead guilty to in order to drop the rest of them. problem is, you take full responsibility for the charge you plead guilty too. 2nd thing is, it will cost you alot of money to defend. Department of Public Prosecutions has an open cheque for the year, so they can quite literally bleed you dry, then drop the case just before the hearing actually occurs. might i suggest you get an extremely good lawyer to screw them over straight away, so they back off, otherwise you could be in for a hefty bill even if you are found innocent of all charges. it's a rubbish justice system, and you sometimes wonder how it works, or how it can be fair.
thats exactly right Cookie,you are charged with multiple offences and then when they scare the kids into thinking this is what you could be facing and you are starting to sh*t yourself,they say,"hey mate we are willing to drop all these charges if you plead guilty to this one",then the defendant goes ,"thanks mate" lol ,which is what will happen here im guessing If it was me,i'd plead not guilty to all of them,and the prosecutor will have no choice but to drop the charges that lack evidence and then you are in the position to start bargaining with him
i agree. they're simply using intimidation forcing you to back down so they're in the clear. there's 2 options from here IMO 1) save the hassle and some dollars but completely lose your pride in the process... or 2) plead not guilty to all because it's all lies and you will not be blackmailed.
