[VIC] Dyno Day, EOI

Just thought I'd post this up for people to express interest in a melbourne dyno day. I don't think there's been a melbourne dyno day for a while now so think it's time we do another one as it's good to just stand around and eat and talk about cars and I'd like to get some ideas on how to organise it.

date: most likely between late June or mid July (uni holidays) most probably a saturday

approx cost: the place I have enquired with has said roughly $40-$50 for 3 runs and a printout but it depends on how many people we can get to actually run their cars on the dyno. We will need a minimum of 20 cars otherwise they won't open the shop up for us.

I was thinking we keep this for aus300zx members and friends of members so this won't be posted on other forums. It's a 4wd dyno so any car can run, doesn't have to be a zed. does that sound alright?

I am in as long as I am free when it is on. A saturday would be much much better than a sunday for me.

well....last time we had a dyno day.....we had about 3 rebuilds (mine includd) and alot detonation in most cars later....and a dud of an operator.

I really hope for everyones sake that this one goes much more smoother.Id make sure that their dyno is 300zx ready.

If it is a good dyno and they have had 300zx experiance before, and my mechanic says 'yes she is now ready for a dyno launch' sure ill come....pull out some nice big numbers hopefully too...

why do they need 300zx experience???

its a car, with 4 wheels and an engine....

if they were tuning, thats completely different..... but just doing a few runs on a dyno...... any dyno operator will be able to do that.

 

Well I don't know about RE Customs having lots of 300zx experience but they do ALOT of skylines and Ray is a really experienced tuner. If he sees your afr's getting too lean or detects detonation or a missfire he'll back off straight away. Obviously something may go wrong but it won't be due to Ray trying to push your car to its limits and will be due to a fault in the tune/car.

Numbers are abit low at the moment, will see how much interest this gets over the next week or so.

 

icer what are you talking about man. Rey at re customs knows exactly what he is doing , with 300 and any other car. Ive been to him myself and had work done by him ,,,

and to bag his dyno ( well people know I'm not a dyno lover ) but i can assure you his dyno is in good condition...

it will definitely take your h/p..

and blowing up your engine ,, i think not , his a good operator , its not his fault your running way to lean to get all the h/p you can

 

I can't commit to this until the Z is running , and even then, wouldn't commit unless I was happy that the lean fuel mix condition had been rectified. Last run was 6 months ago at the NDSOC dyno day and produced 255rwkw running lean at about 16lb boost with a crack somewhere in the block (I was in denial).

Once a new short/long motor goes in, we get the A/FR fixed and up the boost, has the potential for a 275-300rwkw result. Whether its this dyno day or an RZM only run, come hell or high water I will be doing a run in due course.

I'd be interested.
Last run at Berri (Morpower) gave only 125 after Dynomotive got nearly 145 (WTF). So I need to verify what is going on.
