Awesome engine, too bad a Z was butchered for it though...

    5K1TZX Its all never ending....

As the owner would probably say....

There is no replacement for displacement!!

Which is probably the most inaccurate quote in motorsports history. I'd say a turbocharger is a good replacement to make up for our tiny little 3L's of displacement no? ;)

    Has anyone

ever ditched turbos and gone with twin superchargers on the VG??

True turbos make up for a lack of displacement. But what if you've got the displacement AND the turbos? I'd say the quote still holds true.;)

 very impressive conversion i say. but i will have to agree with alot of people here and say that in a way i think its less of a zx, still the end result will fly :D

Cra-Z-Boy no nissan at all :(

I think its funny that so many say its less of a Zed now .
So what about all the Zeds out there that have body kits ,different wheels and even different interiours ,turbos ,Diffs ETC ETC the list goes on, isnt that making it less a zed because it didnt come from the factory like that:rolleyes:   .
I dont see how this makes it less a Zed

    WLDTTZ URBAN LEGEND

Yer you are right but IMHO the VG30DETT is the heart of the Z things like body kit/wheels/interior even turbos are usialy changed but the main part of the Z is stil there the engine/sound/overall body shape. As mentioned above takeing one of these major things away it makes it less of a Z.

But hey to some people that means nothing if they can tripe the factory power output.

Ether way is good I guess :D

Whatever you do to a lesser displacement engine will always make more power with a higher displacement engine. Put the same turbos from a zed onto 6 litres of V8 will put the lesser to shame:) .

Does that V8 have a carburetor still? What about tuning? I can go on? lol While in theory that is true, it doesn't always work out like that. If a blanket statement such as that were entirely true in every circumstance then why does the GTR have the RB26DETT and not a RB30DETT? Why is the 5.0L V8 in the VL Commodore such a bucket of shit and the 3.0L V6 turbo so much better? So if we put the turbos from the RB30ET onto the bucket of shit 5.0L V8 it's going to be better eh? Adding a turbo will stop it from breaking down and chugging out black smoke like a train? On paper a VG33 has 10% more power than a VG30, but from very good sources who have alot of experience with the VG engine apparently the VG33 cant hold the revs as good.

Anyway you see my point, although in theory the more displacement the better it doesn't always work out like that in the real world.

I agree 100%. Modifications is what most of us are about with our Z's

I get this all the time with the Drift Zed and her V8 conversion. I too am not sure if its right or not sometimes...but as soon as I 'hear' her loud raw engine note and see other peoples reactions to it I know its a brilliant engine choice for what this Zed does. I love it!

The DriftZ is still very much seen as a real 'Zed' by the public that see her out at various events.
If I had $10 for every time someone has said " I have always loved the look of these cars" Id be rich!

**They don't say I have always loved the VG30 ;)

    beaver southern zeds

    It still

looks like a zed, but that?s about it! The thing is hybrid now, its lost its turbos gear box engine clutch and plenty more. I like it, but it?s no longer a zed! Zeds have 2 turbos and v6 nissan engine.
