    Edit

...During the course of manufacturing, Bosnjack has suggested using a Cotter Pin instead of a Grub Screw as a fastening mechanism...

To what end? It would fall on deaf ears. You're clearly still instigating.

    Please stop.

    More info

Black Baz and others, Rob as normal has done a great job covering everything, and done some research also. Rob has pretty well covered it a few times but in case not I will repeat and and elaborate., hopefully with out confusing or giving amo for further attacks by some? Fulcrum did not fall over as such, we do business with them everyday and one of their major outlets. They were ready to go as in, ONCE enough orders we then were to pay half up front for 100 units. They were to be made overseas at Fulcrums factory at a set price., and I don't know what, or why, or how, but suspect manufacturing plant OS issues. I was dealing directly with the MD of Fulcrum, who has been very much involved with these pivoting arms. Due to repeated delays, I had to look elsewhere. I was increasing my involvemt with Terry Bosenjac, who I showed the latest design to. He came up with slight
improvement in the fixing system. Terry is based in Sydney, and these arms will be made faster and slightly better, and cost me approximately 20% more. No more cost to anyone else. The cotter pins to be used are very different to the link Rob has researched. It has to machined with a tapper and the units get reemed with a tapper, and the Cotter pin locks in with a thread on the opposite side. These are a further cost to me of about 12% without costing in the extra time spent. Thansk for the interest and some relavent questions I think I have answered as best as I can.
THe latest update is I finalised cotter pin design wth Terry last week, after he and I could not source them, and went the more costly and longer time frame to get made. I will push for a rough time frame as soon as, and will advise. I will also get pics.

I beleive this is the cotter pin type JP is now using. As you can imagine, when the nut is tightened, the shaft wedges into it's corresponding housing and is very positively locked into place. Definatley a big improvement over a grub screw.

    Updated Timeframe

Guys I have an updated ETA from Terry Bosnjack of Bosnjack engineering.

The arms will be manufactured in the next fortnight, and we will be looking at roughly one week from then to get them all zinc plated. So three weeks.

I will keep you posted, thanks for your patience.

Its not really a cotter pin but significantly better.

I did detail what it was in that deleted post but realized it wasnt my place to let that info out, so deleted it.

    Update

Few pics of the progress.... End pieces are done, centre sections are done and plated, pins are off getting hardened, and the last of the steel tube finally arrived yesterday.

Terry is doing nice work as always, check out the quailty of the welds overall finish compared to the protoype version in the original thread and. And to think some people would prefer these were still being made offshore...:p
