I think it would be fair to say that we're all torque'n through our collective asses.:rofl::br:
The repco stuff is nice but man is it chunky! I have found a couple of places that my repco spanners won't fit but sidchrome do. I think there is a point at which you are paying for quality but agree its easy to pay too much! Back to the original question I think a torque wrench is worth spending money on -a decent xx-150lb (or so) will give a lifetime of service.
I was going to add 'and don't tell me nissan' to my post above... but thought I'd not be a smart arse about it. A nissan torque wrench (if they even exist) will do nothing better than a garden variety wrench of good calibration. Just because it's used in the workshop / production line, does not put it on a golden pedestal. For what it's worth, every time I've approached a nissan dealership / parts department about specialist tools listed in the service manual, they have advised me that they are not for sale.
My Torque Wrench is a Britool up to 225ft/lbs brand auto reset type [British made] and it still has a nice chrome finish after 55 years of use & my other small Inch/lbs 45 year old Torque wrench is a Warren & Brown brand.
Some of the wheel bearings and related bolts are listed at about 300 Nm. Though generally for stuff we'd worry about it's be the brake calipers and wheels, which need about 115 Nm. At the low end, some bolts on the engine are listed at 1 Nm lol. I think I'll give the electric one a go. It has a large enough range for almost everything and as mentioned earlier in the thread, we aren't mounting jet turbines so we'd don't need accuracy down to the Ncm lol.
