Hey Megs.... Had three, didn't I... two left/passenger side and one driver's side... guess which one was the one I dropped the other day while 'tidying' the garage???
Nahh, you're wrong... it was a passenger side one!! So, you've got yourself a 'new' driver's side headlight with my compliments!! All I want in return is for Bryan to just re-build my motor, swap to the T28 turbos I have, fix the cooling/overheating issue, and replace (??) the brake master cylinder... maybe all on our next Tech Day...?? :):)

PS.... Seeing as you were too impatient to have a night out with us, you'll have to send me a PM with a Melbourne address to send the headlight. Have a good trip home, and best wishes from all of us...

Hey Mike, as much as I dislike you, if you have any free time Fri, Sat or Sun coming(and you feel like dropping by my ranch)I will be happy to remove/refit your Brake M/Cyl, complete with brake bleed(bring Cheque Book, Brake Fluid and new Brake M/Cyl).;)

We can discuss your depth of indebtedness at that time.:p:zlove::zlove:

    Great day

Thanks Mike for hosting the tech day and thanks Arvin for organising. Great day to see a few zeds, catch up with old friends, meet new ones and troubleshoot zeds!

    Hey guys, cop this.....
Had a brief chat to a couple of you on Sunday about that permanent tech day 'workshop' idea I've had for a while... Speaking with my son yesterday, I found the main (rip-off) mechanic in the workshop next door to our factory storage unit (where we had our tech day) has retired, and I reckon the owner might be getting a bit sick of the business. If we could set up something that gave us access to a hoist/s for weekends or a couple of days a week, I reckon we might be able to pull it off. I could talk to my sons about perhaps including some sort of insurance cover in with the printing factory side of things (as well as maybe handle their car/ute maintenance to add a bit of income. They currently use the workshop for their cars and factory and staff vehicles). Zed owners wanting the use of hoists could pay a nominal (reasonable) fee and we could charge fair, or mate's rates, fees for work done by gurus to pay them at least in part (or in full) for their labour. A point system could perhaps operate where work/help given attracts a reciprocal points 'bank' for future work needed. At least work would be by our own guys who know what they're doing and wouldn't be ripping people off...
Thoughts... ideas... (there's already a fridge that only works to keep beers cold)....
    Regards
    Mike

I was actually thinking of that after we had a talk last Sunday. I'd be more than willing to participate in coming up with a system to organise such. As we have discussed, that would be a great idea so we can hold regular tech days for the group.

First things first, we need to come up with a system on how to sustain the shop through budget brainstorming. Of course it would be sourced from the reasonable fees that we will be able to collect from the works done. And that would be a good start.

Moreover, probably we could come up with a list of in-service demos for the first few days (or weekends). Say radiator flush, crimping/soldering electrical wirings and replacing suspensions for the first weekend. Then changing rotors, performing boost leak test and how to use the conzult datascan on the second. So on and so forth...

P.S. If ever we decide to come up with OIC's and leaders, I appoint Mike's wasps as our First Line Army of Defence... [TIS]

Sounds like an idea from Heaven Mike.:D
I would certainly be prepared to devote some time to this on a semi-regular basis if needs be.
I think you may be playing hopscotch in a minefield if you try to charge for the work(you know---Licenced Workshop/Workcover all the things that follow on from that)but if it is for "enthusiasts" by "enthusiasts" and payment is by way of Monopoly Money, or similar, it could be a real goer.

Hahaha... Oh, you are a cunning one, Chili-san! Don't think my petulant little heap of s*** would not even make it half-way to your ranch without dropping its head to eat the grass!! I think I'm more chance of dropping those 'twins' it looks like my belly is holding than my Zed behaving long enough to get to your operating table!! However, I do appreciate the kind offer... and will probably request your regal presence at yet another Castle Hill Tech Day (bugger the rest of you, this one's for ME!!) in the very near future. Of course, I'll probably be the only one who turns up!! Might have to organise the Wests Tigers Cheer Girls to come along as enticement...!! (Trouble with that one is we are now only PAST-sponsors!!)
And, I'll hafta find a master cylinder...

Who's "charging", Officer?? We pay our own rent and just use the premises to work on our own cars - even the beers are 'free'... would you like one, Officer, Sir??
PS... RTA guys are REGULAR friendly visitors to this little 'watering hole'... but, I didn't tell ya that!!

Sounds like you had an awesome time Arv, glad to see it went so well. You definitely need to bring that Zed around sometime, I wanna see how much its changed :D

On the idea of a permanent tech day held every so often, I think it sounds awesome and would definitely be on-board. More then happy to help out other Zedders, for, if nothing else, the experience and knowledge I'd be gaining.

Thanks Emile! And just an update on me everyday driver:

I only live 5mins away from the hospital where I work (7mins before when I still got me skyline)! And never in my life have I wished I'm 500kms away from work! Damn, this machine drives beautifully... :)

Counting my blessings. That includes those bunch of people on the tech day... :)

Hold those horses, Chili... conducted yet another 'Mike-only Tech Day' and pulled out the rad once again. Surprise, surprise... found yet another 'pin'-hole in the metal-to-plastic join of the inlet pipe. Seems they might have used Araldite as a sealer-joiner and checking a new purchase of Araldite I found on the de-structions that joins are subject to 'softening' at temps around 60-degrees. Who'da thunk it...!!??
Having another go at the rad myself, on-my-own, alone, and without help, and am hoping this (as well as the earlier splits) might be the final fix. If so, a trip to the Chile mansion just might be a possibility...

Sounds like replacing the end tanks(or getting another radiator)would be a far less troublesome solution to your on-going woes, Mike.
There are various Epoxy products that are far superior to Araldite, perhaps you need to invest in one of them?:zlove:
