Sydney Dyno Day?

    Thanks Fleet, damn 10th place is so close I can smell it. Had I have known on the day I would have wound it up another half a pound or so!
    I really wanted to crack the 300, maybe the new intercooler and an underdrive pulley will do the trick.

    I also have a bunch of pics, and some video, although the video is only of my car on the dyno. I'll get some pictures up here later today, gonna go get some sleep now.

    Baz i saw your post in z-related. Make no mistake UAS are the experts and the two guys who were working on your car are excellent mechanics both have done some top notch work on my car and many others.

    Zeds are notoriously fickle creatures when it comes to compression test, which is probably why they did back to back with two different testers before forming an opinion. Did they say anything further would be required to make a concrete conclusion?

    Re: your other post, problem with forums is you will find lots of people who (with the best intentions and to the best of their experience) will give you the answer you want but it might not always be the correct one. When it comes down to it you've had the car tested in front of you (so no room for funny business...) at THE specialist workshop for Zeds so the info they've given you is pretty solid. It doesn't mean the car's a writeoff either, the price you were quoted for a rebuild was pretty good and with a fresh motor and the mods you already have you're going to see plenty of power and a very fun car. All your 100K and PP bits can be reused so no money lost there.

    What you do with it from here is obviously your call, if it's any consolation I know your pain all too well but it's not the end of the world!

    My problem is that i have another set of results that proves different and am contemplating going somwhere also to get another opinion, my problem is that what i have been told by them is not entirely corrent based on my datascan results and the results of a further compression test this morning, and all i said was what should i do if it still needs a rebuild i will sell it i cant afford it i haevv said nothing false in the thread and have merely asked for opinions on what to do my position is icant afford a motor or rebuild and i want to be 100% sure it is that before i give up my dream car, yes they are the experts but it seams that they have stuffed up the compression tests and i did not appreciate the way i was dealt with and comments that were made by john that i will not bring to public knowledge as it will just cause all out war, im not trying to hurt UAS i just want to know what the hell to do, i dont know anything about these cars and have asked for peoples opinions that is it

    Rob, Mods on the car performance wise are as follows:

    HKS roller bearing turbo's, not sure what model
    HKS dual plate clutch (those on you there on the day may have seen me struggling with this from time to time hehe, even the bloke putting it on the dyno almost stalled it which made me feel better. so damn touchy!)
    I *think* it has a lightened HKS flywheel but not sure.
    Blitz dual stage boost controller
    Do Luck 3inch exhaust
    Unknown brand pod filter
    Stock intercoolers with replacment hardpipes and balance pipe

    That's it as far as I know, as for internally I have no idea. I'm wondering what's the next step I can take for improvment. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    I'll try to get some pics up from the day in a hour or so, just gotta go resize them all.

    Congrat Shifter on doing a lazy 362rwkw on pump gas and only 19psi was it?

    Must hand you the right texta next to to right up results as it was a permanent marker. Nothing some solvent won't remove.
    Sorry for scare with your engine Bigbaz and hope is OK but still think it is not.
    At a minimum has issues. Maybe those two lose spark plugs on dyno would not have helped which we found after.

    Baz, from your reply it sounds like i may have offended you which was never my intention so apologies if this is the case.

    I was simply trying to make the point that the information you already have is much better than anything you are going to get here. You've had your car checked out and opinions given from genuine experts, you're much better taking their advice rather than looking here for different answers. If you're not convinced take john up on the offer of a retest, you've got nothing to lose. A leakdown test would also help determine engine health but I think this has already been mentioned.

    This in particular "i did not appreciate the way i was dealt with and comments that were made by john" made me smile -only because I have been there often enough to know that yes sometimes they can rub people the wrong way but their intentions are always good. Any comments would have been purely for your benefit but perhaps the delivery could have been improved!!

    Either way good luck with your car and whatever you decide to do with it there are alot of people who will help out where they can. Once again I'm sorry if I have offended you, just trying to offer some advice.

    Sorry mate just stressed is all, however if you look at results in the
    uas tests i would have thought the car would not run at all and the fact all cylinders are contributing, there are another set of results that contradicts there analysis, i will be taking the car to another zed mechanic for analysis next week and will post up results

    By the way does it blow smoke or use much oil?
    We did not stuff the test and this does not help. I would rather you said nothing or actually bring out in the open as I have nothing to hide. I understand you know little about cars but not an excuse to slur us or imply I did or said something wrong or something. You have shown you have gotten a few things totally wrong or at a minimum out of context so probably another so just say it and I might be able to clarify what you may have wrong idea of also?

    Sounds like a nice car I'm sorry i didn't get a chance to see you run.

    I'm guessing at that power you are probably maxing out stock intercoolers so a front mount or larger side mounts should get some extra KW by lowering intake temps. I reckon that would be a good place to start.

    Also management, power FC is well priced and effective (UAS slot car uses one at the moment). A good tune would probably get you some more (and better) power and better economy
