They are my Ninja gloves. Great for stopping cuts and keeping the grease at bay while in the engine bay ;).
Don't worry, I took them off later, and have been scrubbing the grease off my hands ever since. There was a fair bit of sludge in the valley from leaking cam covers, plus we degreased the crap out of all the brackets and everything.

Me too! Oh well, what has been said has been said! Damage has been done! Probably from all the gases I've inhaled doing up the engine.

Can't wait to get her back on the road. It's driving me insane!!! *&@#^%#@$

I might be needing some help putting the new timing belt in. Tried to read the manual and my neurons aren't enough to comprehend the complexity of things. Need to make sure this part is done properly to avoid any major problems for the engine...

Will accomplish the other little things like rebuilding the IACV, fixing leaky cam cover seals, putting back the upper plenum, putting new thermostat and water pump, tidying up a bit more and prepping the new turbos among others. Will leave the timing belt, idler pulleys, timing belt tensioner and putting the new turbos in for last... :)

Another productive day for my engine, having Ron, Mitch, Zac and Emile (better late than nevah!) around. Was so stunned as to how clean my engine can be. Ze Wizard wouldn't wanna lay a even a single finger on a durtty engine! LOL. So we covered all holes and openings, degreased the whole engine and sprayed away. Finally looked like an engine to me... in a way! :p Will post piccies of the engine next time. For the meantime, here are 3 happy snaps and will be updated again soon...

Big THANK YOU to these people for sharing the knowledge, skills and ever selfless helping hand! Ron, always looked up to you... and you've proven once again that you're not just a pretty face. Your effort to share whatever you have and make the effort to share a piece of your very busy time to those in need is definitely the reason why this forum has been breathing for so many years now. Thanks so much, my good friend! :zlove:

The only one who can sneak around with a camera Arvin.:D
Happy to be able to help,
your right i wasn't going to get my nice shiney spanners dirty working on that filthy engine, a bit of degreaser, some water and presto, nice and clean so we could start work.
Probably found why one of your turbos died through lack of water to cool it with the inlet pipe gunked up with silicon, probably a water pump fit previously that used to much silicon sealant.
Can save you some money, went through my parts collection and come up with the studs and gaskets for the five bolt dumps ( all new), will take them up to JP's tomorrow so you can pick them up.

    Hey Arvin...

Looks like it was a successful day wish I could have come will have to give you a call sometime soon... engine looks alot cleaner I do remember all the gunk that built up on me when I pulled it out;):p

I finally got my engine home so a tear down will start soon... also snapped clean a bolt on my front Brembos but that's another story...

Was quite a good time, Ron broke one of his trusty spammers while mounting the turbo.. And that engine is the cleanest you would see it without some serious sanding/scrubbing

If you need a hand again just flick me a text, it's good learning the "nuts and bolts"

Wiz really did work some magic fitting those turbos. It was good to catch up with everyone again, despite horrid delays on the F3 :-/

BTW, I didn't sit around watching wiz all day... there was some helping going on- namely trying to work out the power window wiring diagram with zac (hidds).
