Yep. I've been waiting patiently for the GZA smoked to come in and the man himself has done me a small favor just to sweeten the deal :)

    cheers,

    Targas II

    Just a quick one today.

I decided to redo the targas because where the vinyl met the rubber trim i had cut it quite poorly. I also wanted to put the wrap over the trim like i did with the rear targa trim bit.

    peeling the old vinyl off:

    Prepped the surface:

Put the vinyl down and pulled it over the trim:

finished + some oily fingerprints lol. Looks no different i know but the vinyl now goes over the rubber trim and looks alot nicer :)

    Rattles!

So iv been trying to find and eliminate all the rattles that iv been hearing. The most notible a massive one in my rear passenger side shock.

So i spent a good few hours today pulling the shock/coil off and inspecting it. I ended up pulling the drivers side off to compare and noticed i had put a rubber bit on in the wrong order :bash:

reassembled and took it for a drive and it felt great. Also located a screw in the boot and another in the door card

So the vinyl has taking its first beating. The other day while driving out of the valley doing 80kmph a rock flew up and across my bonnet then bouncing up and over the car. Its left me with a scrape thats about 1cm long and 2mm wide x 2.

Easy fix but it wont be perfect.

I met up with 300ZXC earlier this week too. He and i were standing right infront of it (less than 30cm away) and he couldn't see any of the imperfections that i could until i pointed them out. Which is good news, i think the owner of any car is more critical of it in that kind of way than other people. I see my car as a multitude of components, each given a handful of hours work. Whereas everyone else sees it as a complete car and views it in that way.

I have skirts, rear bar and nose panel coming from CZP as well as another little surprise early next year. Then tint at some point, redoing the hatch, clearing the rear lights, smoked side indicators from GZA and thats the outside done (for now).

At that point ill be on my opens and ill get set on looking into TTs and start the mechanical journey. No doubt that will be an ongoing phase that i can never really "finish".

So many more posts to come, more vinyl and lots of variety.

Iv given myself a deadline of July next year to have the TT in and in a respectable state. At which point ill be pursuing my police career hopefully and the zed will have to take the backseat.

So theres my plans. Any advice or comments along the way are much appreciated and taken on board.

cheers for continuing to read and enjoy.

    until next time...

    Matt. :D

    Boot Floor

Its been awhile since iv updated. Iv been flat out with organizing thousands of dollars worth of parts to be shipped over from CZP over 2 separate orders and then working so i can pay for my share :zlove:

Theres going to be a bunch of stuff arriving on my doorstep within the next week or 2, some of which is mine and will be going onto the stealth zed asap.

Iv got a set of 2k spec tails, a full genuine kaminari kit which includes, rear, skirts, door filler, front lip. The Front lip will be for a TT which i will sell as soon as it comes (feel free to PM to express interest). Iv also got a Stillen V2 vented nose panel and another big surprise which will have the zed looking very mean.

As for now though i was given a large sheet of this to construct a new boot floor out of.

Made a template out of paper then rough cut it:

Shaped it up and started to lacquer it:

    Many more coats of lacquer:

This is where im up to now, still deciding what to do next. Its either attach the boot carpet to this to solve the problem of the carpet flying around. Or ditch that and put my own carpet on this boot floor. Any ideas as im really undecided?

Ill also have to head back up to Brisbane to replenish my vinyl supplies, if anyone up that way wants to come have a look let me know. More than happy to talk zeds for awhile. :D

Also in the works is a multi-state road trip (4 states:eek:) which could be happening in the not too distant future. Iv had private words with a few members off forums about staying the night at key places. Hesitant to say more until its confirmed though.

Its been a pleasure to share everything thus far with you guys. So a big Merry Christmas and happy near year to you all!!:zlove:

Enjoy as always and until next time...

Hey Matt, I will be doing my boot as well at some stage. I wont be attaching existing carpet as it will make removing it, and storing stuff under it difficult. I'm going to use two sheets of ply (similar to what you have) and sandwich some MLV (mass loaded vinyl - for sound proofing), and then cover it with someof this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110392554423&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_922 (in black of course). Have a look through this guys other stuff he has some useful products and is in Brisbane so not far for you.

    Tint

I had a box come on monday from halifax in sydney. They charged me 10 dollars to get this huge roll of vinyl up here to qld and it took them 2 days!! Fastest and cheapest shipping iv ever seen lol. I got another few meters for the body parts that are coming.

The tint was done yesterday up in slacks creek. I was meant to be at browns plains but one of their tinters didnt come in and stuffed the guy around. Im glad it did though as i got a nice man up there who let me sit inside the workshop and watch/help while talking about anything and everything.

Here are a few pics while it was getting done:

Customary shot of it on the street.

Im still hesitant to take any real good pics as its not done. Im planning to have it "done" externally in about 2 or 3 weeks.

Still expecting the CZP box this week as well as smoked side indicators from GZA.

thats all for today, until next time...

Looking good as always! What grade tint did you use? Looks fairly dark in the shop but not so much in the street (though thats to be expected).

Dropped the rims off to Al today, they are going a satin-like black. Because to be honest, the vinyl isnt your traditional matte black is in between matte and satin.

CZP box came today, LOTS of posts to come.

    Matt :)

I've been watching the czp box thread out of curiosity Matt. You're a good bloke for organising this for so many members across the country.

The Stealth Zed is looking great too! My vinyl will hopefully get applied next week. :D

    Nose panel II

Looks like im back! Will be doing lots of vinyling over the next month or so and completely changing the stealth zed.

Starting with the easiest bit, the nose panel.

Iv Dubbed this one the Night Hawk Nose Panel. Its very stealth bomber-ish as a fellow member pointed out :)

This is the genuine Polyurethane Stillen Vented nose panel V2.

It comes matte black like this, i started by attaching the mounting gear to the bottom after carefully measuring it up.

Some test fitting was then required.

    Colour match much?

Yea, bet you cant get blur like that! Thats stealth blur for you..

Preparing it for the vinyl so sanding ensued. 600 and 1200 grit.

Place the vinyl on, stretch it and slowly lay it..you get the idea by now i think lol.

Cutting it out and leaving a bit to tuck under.

The face of it has been done only
    [IMG]

Its hard to tell, but you can see the texture/shine difference.

Looks a lot better in person as always. The next step is to wrap the bottom area of the vented part and leave the 'walls' in the rough matte black. Or i may change my mind and wrap them too, ill see how i feel.

Not too sure what will be next, either the rear bar and 2k lights or skirts.

Just have to wait and see. Until next time....

    Matt.

Sure is Nighthawk looking, whoever said that is a genius.

A genius (plural geniuses[1][2]) is something or someone embodying exceptional intellectual ability, creativity, or originality, typically to a degree that is associated with the achievement of unprecedented insight.

    :p

Nah, its looking good man.

Cheers mate, its a mammoth effort i tell you. For all the guys who have run successful GBs well done. I can see why some people fail so hard at it though. Its all about communication, i tried to stay on top of it and i think i did. Hopefully ill be running another one in the future when i have time and the desire for more parts. Possibly when i hit the engine phase of the Stealth Zed :zlove:

    cheers,
    matt :)
