    thanks, but...

    Thanks Andrew...

Problem is that both turbo's need to be the same. Options at the moment are as follows:

    1. Sell the car as is where is for as much as possible :(

    2. Let her sit there while I drive a $500 bomb around until I can afford to repair the :zlove: myself.

    3. Save to have my current turbo's rebuilt my Motsons (2 months or so)

Although i've had my rollercoaster with this car, I think that is partially the reason I love her so much. For all the times she has been in the gutter with depression she's always made up for it when she's feeling better. Excitement wise she has NEVER let me down.

as for the ETAF thing.... a long time ago on a cruise not so far away Fate was drifting up the hillside when he spun out and faced the other way. The zeds kept going straight as he smiled and he waved. Fate was now backwards and thats how Etaf (fate backwards) came to stay ;) :p

If they are stock turbo's, they should be the same Sean. There is no need to replace them as pairs(as long as Manuals get manual turbo's, and Auto's get auto turbo's).
It should not take months to repair a turbo(it takes a couple of days in Sydney).

i think its more the save part that will take months not the rebuild part chili

It's going to be easier for this to be organized at the QLD end, so if you want to tie it all together Greg, I'll donate $100 toward incidental costs, it's the least I can do, seeing as how you guys all came together for Andymac(and I kind of like Sean for some obscure reason:p:p).

    Great offer Baron, you're a champ.:zlove::zlove::zlove:

PM your bank details, and I'll transfer it today.

Sean has high flowed bb T28's, not exactly stock...

    Correct...

It is the savings part that will take the couple of months, and the turbo's i've got are a little further than stock.

    t28's hi-flowed with s/s ball bearings.

What brand are they Sean? might pay to check if there is any play or not if its just a core change might not be too bad but if wheels and housings are damaged it will cost more and probably easier to get some new ones. I will keep an eye out if you let me know the specs and brand etc.
Sounds like 5 bolt dump jobs .64 rears just depends on the overall size now

That changes things a bit, but it is still do-able.
I haven't heard of B/B turbo's falling apart on a road car. They have to come out to find out what went wrong(might be of help to all those people who recently upgraded to T28's).:eek:

A lot of us have been in a similar situation before, car stuffs up just that one extra time after spending money and time on it, driving your sanity over the edge. Your best off just parking it up for a while and let the cash build up and the anger die down. I generally dont worry about continuing repairing a problem car until I can do it without getting pissed off or letting it all get to much for me to take mentally, last time this meant the car I was working on sat for 4 months till I felt calm enough to finish the job:zlove:

Sean, you need to decide if you will hang on to the

car, at least for a while if its fixed. If you will, Baron's generous offer to 'supervise' the fix with all the other offers of help will see it back on the road. This is assuming more serious damage hasn't been caused by turbo shrapnel. Can a diagnosis of the internals be conducted before transporting the car to the Sunny Coast?

I too wouldn't like you to leave the zed community, so what do you reckon Sean??

    If Fixed

If the car does get fixed I'll DEFINITELY be keeping it for at least another 12 months.

I do not want to get rid of her under ANY circumstances...

If someone does decide to buy the car as it is for the $13K price tag or VERY close to. I would prefer to get rid of it. I'm not HAPPY about leaving it in the front yard while I "save" more money, but it's something that I will put up with. I'm considering getting a $500 s/box to get me from A - B as daily driver. Get the funds together as long as it takes. Get the problem fixed, get her painted and get her back on the road. *sigh*

Only problem that I have right now is that I cannot afford replacement turbo's that will suit the application. *sigh*

:) Thats where I stand at this point and the saving has begun. :(

    Well I think

you need to get those turbos off and get them off to Motsons first, hopefully they can be rebuilt, which should be cheaper than new ones. At least then you "know" where you stand, and you can make the necessary decisions from there. Also, this way, you know nice and early in the peice, rather than waiting, and then getting a surprise.
That should be the first step.
It doesn't matter whether the motor is in or out of your car for the next month or three, if it's not driving anywhere either way?

    Zexactly

Whether engine is in or out of the car it doesn't matter for the next couple of months.

One of the only reasons I haven't done work on the zed at home apart from not knowing very much at all about mechanical is the fact I do not have the room for the zed in 1 spot and the engine in another.

Thats why I have always taken to a mechanic.

If this engine removal project goes ahead as it seems it is going to I want to see how it all comes apart and be more involved with the car than I have been in the past. It's frustrating not knowing how things go together or how to fix things when they go wrong.

    Fate.
