Another point that might explain some of this is that I don't think Shannons are too diligent in reassessing these things every year, so when they do there could be an element of catch up. In my case, the Blue Zed was insured for $17,000 for 2004 - 2008. In 2009 their offer was $15,000, and this year $14,000. Over the 6 years I don't think I have done too badly. The silver Zed is insured for $11,000 because that was what I paid for it. That insured value has held up for three years now, which is pretty good, but I guess I should expect it to move sometime soon.
