Easiest way to get the top nut off is use a compressor gun and loosen it whislt the car is on the ground, but don't remove it completly. Then jack it up and begin swap. I had a bitch of time doing mine because for some reason the springs were longer than stock and had to be compressed heaps, also you have to get the spring clamps in exactly the right spot otherwise when you try and slide the unit back in nothing lines up and the clamps foul on the wheel arch. Also you need to make sure you get the bottom of the shock and the top two bolts in the right possition relative to each other. Sometime (using stock units) you only need spring clams to fit the spring to the damper, then the unit just goes back in no probs, but in my case I needed them to fit it back into the car. Last thing to do is nip up the top nut with the compressor or deep socket after the weight has been put back on the wheel. If you try and loosen or tighten the top nut with no load the shaft of the damper spins. Can't believe I'm giving tips to the Kaptain???
Anyone know what brand the OEM NISSAN shocks are? A little of topic but always wondered what the Z32TT's came out with from factory. Had a look at my ZTT's fronts and they are Bilstein. Did the Z32 come out with Bilsteins all round? Aren't Bilsteins supposed to be the best? Anyone know? Peter
Ummm... maybe NISSAN. Your bilsteins are definately not factory. Unless you have the 25th anniversary stillen edition which had something fancy that I am not aware of.
Interesting. Must be lucky then having Bilsteins at the front. Haven't looked at the back though. I thought Bilsteins must have been the Nissan OEM shocks for these cars but going by the replies it appears perhaps not. Peter
