Well. I know I piked out early, but I had the best time! Thx to Wykked and BGTV8 who showed up with their Z32 and Z35 to put on a show, and thank you for all your advice. With the Lambo's and the Morpowa Sileighty out there it surely was a day! Apart from coming off the track (only once) I learnt a bucket load! I did take some pics and vids of you guys. Also a nice vid of that Supaloc Lambo!! I really think, if we had the numbers, that we should book the track for a weekday! Nothing but zeds on the track would be great! Cheers Ads
Be keen to see the pics and video Adam. Sorry we couldnt make it, family birthdays and sick/unwell members (manda) cause for bigger priorities. The close track for z32's would be the ticket. Be a hell of a cost though.
Ads glad you had a great day. IT is no shame packing up earlier, I have done it many times my self. I realise that I have had enough, or one of my many rules are broken/meet. (like three close calls/moments and I call it a day). Also remember it is a good day, only if you drive it home. Great to hear that some one was using their toy as intended (Lambo). So are you hooked on the track day drug?
Finally back home after a mega weekend .... thanks to Dave and Mia for BBQ on Sat evening - very hospitable, and also to the guys who showed up to the track, and especially to our newest track-day junkie ..... hope you enjoyed it, as Terry and I certainly did. I have some video which I need to edit and re-size before loading it up on YouTube ... will check them all and post the most interesting (note to self - find one of the Lambo going past at Warp-10 .... sounds glorious !!). Will post somethign on this thread when videos loaded. RB
Shame about the relatively small turnout, but to those who attended, I'm sure it was a fun day! I got to be pit crew for the day, and it was good to meet up with Jaz and BGTV8, and also those who just came for the meeting point. That white Zed at Bunnings was verrrry nice! Jaz - nice car, and very sensible approach to the day. Looks like you got a lot out of it. BGTV8 and Terry - nice to meet you, and it was a fun Sat night. Will have to make sure we catch up again next time. Both Wykked and BGTV8 put in some very respectable and consistent times. Mallala is a small track with lots of turns (Yes, I know Wykked, is doesn't actually have a 'straight" ) so it probably doesn't allow bigger HP cars to stretch their legs too much, but it was great to see two very different 'Zeds' out on the track together. BGTV8's 370Z had a real 'angry' snarly exhaust note, while Wykked's was more muted and deeper - both really nice to hear :br: Zeo - nice to catch up, but I think we need an SA tech day
(Looks like you guys had fun, wish I could of gone dam job Oh well more money = more z goodies:zlove: We to have a tech day, might try to bring my TT down so I can find out whats wrong with and fix it.

What a top weekend!!! Two days spent dragging the Zed to and back from SA with a day on the track in the middle. Interesting little track it is too, lots of corners with just a couple of (short) straights. Didn't even get it into 5th and saw a top speed for the weekend of only 183 braking into the northern hairpin and getting really close to punting an MR2 off the track because the guy was a LOT slower than I realised. Lots of traffic early on with a wide range of cars, speeds and driver ability, but that is part of the fun of track days. Unfortunately I didn't turn the camera on for the last session of the day which turned out to be the best with only Rob in the 370, Kovacs in the V8 ute and one of the lambos lapping the track, always the way though. I do have some good footage so once I get it edited and uploaded I'll post it up. A big thankyou to my SA hosts the Gammon family and to Dave for being Pit Bitch and cheif timer on the weekend, my best lap was a 1.24 from memory with most in the 1.25/1.26 range. I think Rob also managed a 1.24 lap at the end of the day which made him happy as time and fuel were starting to run out. It was great to meet a few new SA zedders and to catch up with a few that I haven't seen for a while. Hopefully this event will encourage more SA people to get out and about to events as it seems that Victorians keep outnumber them at their own events. That was a slight dig because we keep having more Vic guys along to the riverland show, and of the 3 cars on the track last weekend 2 of them were form Vic.......so come on Adelaidians.......get out and join us. Hopefully we can do it again in the new year, Dave was saying that the Morpowa boys are think of hiring the track on a weekday for an "invite only" day so that could really be fun.
I'm going out again next month with a new mindset and the "rotor-shield" mod as suggested by Pete. The day is on the 29th I think. Don't know whether I should make it an upcoming. Have contacted the NDCCSA and would really like to attend the MSCA event next month. Loved it out there. I'm probably going to lean on Rob and Pete for advice from time to time, sorry guys. ps. You know the whole day I was calling Rob Robin, what a tool! Sorry Rob!! Ads
Jaz, its my name .......... I answer to both ........ so its cool. I have posted two clips which can be found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3uzti-2z_s and also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLafh09a8j8 Enjoy ................
Track booking Just a bit of info guys: To hire the track for a day including all required staff is $3630 If we wanted instructors / passengers it would be an extra $1000 on top of that for insurance. It's a big cost and we would have to have committed zedders plus as many zeds from Vic as we could muster to bring the individual cost down. Just putting it out there for all to muse over. I was just curious to find out the cost that's all! What are the Vic tracks like price wise guys? Ads
That Supaloc Lambo lives next door. It's one of an identical pair, sits in the workshop amid a pile of spare parts including at least one spare lambo engine and a damaged body shell. There is also a bevvy of Porche's, a Commodore and various others from time to time. When he crashed it last time he just ordered a new body and engine from Lamborghini and assembled it in the workshop. Then when the motor blew he rang around and found a Lambo for sale, paid $200k and just used the motor to put his racing bits into. Big boys and their toys!
Finally got the videos done. On the out lap at Mallala I was heading up the back straight at half speed while everything came up to temperature and one of the Supaloc Lambos went past blowing flames on the changes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31p3iHob9y4 Third session and trying hard to catch Rob in the 370. About half way through I get closer to an MR2 at the northern hairpin then I would like as he was much slower than I thought. You can see the car snaking into the corner on the limit of the brakes. This is closely followed by Rob having a very small off, his only mistake of the day that I saw. Right at the end I slow for the waved yellow flag for the stricken Morpowa 180 that broke a belt tensioner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogr6vJ4OzvM Second last run of the day, still chasing Rob in the 370z and getting past a couple of HQ racecars, a very smokey RX7, my mate in the MR2 and a persistant skyline. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsfxKse2Y5k
