thats what I did.... or I should say, doing.... I've bought all the parts, now I just have to find time to fit them... I need to chase up some o-rings for where the pipes join, but i'm hoping ashdown has these as well... when it comes to regass time, I will get them to check for leaks and see if my fitment of parts has been any good.. Sorry for the dig... I've been getting quotes around $400 - $500 anyone know people in Canberra who can do this at a reasonable price??? Alternatively - anyone know a workshop thats willing to regas R12 (yes I know I'm a naughty boy for asking:banned Just called Hychill and they said theyd see if anyone in Canberra has it, so that may be an alternative for me
$400-500 seems a lot. Generally we do the work ourselves then just pay for the re-gas. The original post was made by a Canberra member. A PM might work. Cheers, Peter
Was wondering does the dryer in the original post, from a Nissan Patrol GQ/RX Y60 work well with the Hychil or is that one only used with the R1124a conversion, would it be a direct fit or would I need an adaptor, Also where would I get the O rings from, somewhere Ive heard they are a special type? or is that not true.

Thought I would update the information above. After ringing around a couple of places the information I was given was anyone with an conditioning license can not re-gas car air-cons with anything but R124a in QLD, that not saying that people who don't have a licence cant put Hychil 30 in there vehicle and the man I spoke to from Mobile Aircon services said other gasses may even be able to be brought from stores like Repco. Also did a ring around and Ashdown Auto electric is also called Ashdown Enterprises Wholesales Pty Ltd. The prices are pretty much the same. as they were in the very first post .Very helpful people to deal with. Will be picking up my parts tomorrow
Been running LPG straight from the BBQ bottle in my TT Z's aircon for a few months now, no problems except for a slight overheating issue at the beggining that turned out to be a condenser full of leaves , grass & insects. LPG or Propane (R290) runs hotter through the condenser but if my Z can handle it on a 35-40 degree Central QLD summer day I'm sure it will work just about anywhere!

The dryer that Ashdown tried to sell me was not correct, no longer stock the correct one. tried to sell me one which fits an R33 skyline/Nissan Patrol GQ/RX Y 60. The thread on one of the fittings is not correct.
How does the LPG compare to r134a? and how much of it did you have to put in the system? not planning to use it, just curious as so much people say that it can cause an explosion.
Just recently had mine done (within the last 6 months) Was able to get the replacement receiver/dryer then. Shoot Eric/Drz400Y a pm, know that he has had a few re-gassed/repaired through his workshop of late.
Hychill vs r134a debate 2015 update (request) Sorry to make this long past thread drag on but I am thinking of going down the 'Hychill minus 30' route for my not-so-cold a/c.(NA 1990 auspec). I have searched through long past threads on the a/c gas issue and this seems to be the last one. Are there any more recent updates on the Hychill vs r134a debate? Love to know before I go ahead. This thread has detailed information from 2005 - 2008 but if there is anything new to add (2015 relevant!) it would be most helpful. Im in northwest Sydney and will hunt down the nearest person who can service my a/c. Will post up their details if appropriate and helpful to anyone. "Bursons" seems to be the distributor so hopefully they can steer me in the right direction. cheers.
I did mine with Hichill from Bursons today. It works amazingly compared to the r134 in my old Zed. Took no time at all except for a bad oring that needed replacing down at the compressor. Its very easy to do. Borrowed a mates gauges and vaccum pump and had it done in no time.
$23 sounds pretty good but without the correct knowledge, tools and of course experience, I have decided to have it done by some much trusted hands. ASR will take care of it and will actually be using the R134a. So, I have backflipped but hey, it will be cold and it's not a hip replacement or anything! Cheers.
