I have converted a couple of zeds from R12 to R134a and thought some of you may choose to purchase the components required to either give them to the auto-electrician (and save some $) or to do it yourself if you have the knowledge. Anyway,

The dryer unit is from a Nissan Patrol GQ/RX Y60

    Drier RPL RD5010, stock code 15-DR4702, $34.29
Pressure Switch RPL PS3610, stock code 15-PS7907, $15.93
Fitting adapter, RPL AF6363, stock code 15-AF9101, $4.69
Fitting adapter, RPL AF6364, stock code 15-AF9103, $5.42

Also required is about 20ml of sythetic lubricant, R134a gas and of course the filling equipment. This is done by the auto-electrician.

The idea is that you purchase the above parts for about $60 and then have the auto-electrician simply fit them and fill with R134a gas. If you have previously removed the bottom guard from the motor then the service price should be no more than $125 making the total conversion cost under $200.

Any price over $250 means ya getting ripped off!

(It takes me about an 60 to 80 minues to do the conversion).

    Cheers

PS: The parts were purchased from Ashdown Auto Electrical Wholesalers

The parts shown above are for J-Spec TT's..>>>

They apply to J-Spec CZ32 and GCZ32 models. The Aus-Spec drier is different it is as follows:

    Catalogue 15-DR4505, model RD7131, $67.54 each.

The reason why this is rediculously expensive is that the catalogue shows this item is for a 300ZX rather than for a Nissan Patrol. Repco want $95 for the same dryer and you don't want to know what Nissan want.

Apologies for not adding this info the the previous post (blaming it on fatigue).

    Cheers

PS: All prices shown are the retail.

Air con changeover and tech advice

As per the tech advice, I have tried to purchase the below drier units through 2 x Nissan dealers, and they claim that the parts numbers on the driers make no sense to them.

Can some-one advise what parts number/description will work with nissan dealers, or advise me of another supplier in Sydney or Canberra ?

    conversion rationale

[/B]R12 is now illegal, as it is an Ozone depletant of enormous magnitude [like 1 molecule takes out several million ozone molecules], and even old systems cannot be topped up with R12 if they leak.

Most fresh imports have it removed before arriving in OZ.The original system will not use the legal replacement gasses very well, without some conversion being done.

This is the minimal conversion required for our Z32's to run the currently legal gasses.

    cheers
