I've been a bit slack with putting this thread up due to being busy with buying the new house and all.

Well as you should all know by now my VH45 has been ripped out and is now in Perth  It was unfortunately not quite fast enough and I was sick of working on it after 2 years to fix that :p

So I've decided to put a TT in it. I had been collecting a lot of nice VG parts over the years and realised a little while ago I had pretty much everything I needed to make a pretty tuff little VG.

    List of parts so far:

    Recently rebuilt VG30DETT from K-Zed
HKS 2510 turbos with HKS dual port actuators
ToyZ 5 bolt 3" expansion dumps
Tighe ground cams on new blanks
    UAS SMIC's (ex Black Beast)
    Silicone intercooler hoses
    Unorthodox Racing UDP
JUN adjustable intake cam gears (still looking for a set of exhausts)
    JECS 750CC injectors
    New 100K kit
    New PCV's
    Full Nissan gasket kit
Heads, lower plenum and exhaust manifolds are off being ported by Eric at A2Zed, should be back shorty *pokes Eric in ribs* :p
Practically new wiring loom I got off Simmo
    ASI ally radiator
ASI rad hoses and boost hoses
    Blitz BOV's
    Nistune
2 Bosch 044's (not sure if I will use these yet)
JUN lightweight flywheel (left over from the V8)
Exedy brass button 5 puck clutch (left over from the V8)
And probably another few things I can't remember :p

The VG I got off K-Zed had been sitting for quite a while and was a bit rusty in the coolant galleries, so I decided to pull the heads and give them to Eric to do his thing with. Need to clearance the heads for the big cams anyway. The old turbo's were seized, so not sure if they are salvageable, will take them to the guru later. The coolant lines were blocked with crap, blew them out with compressed air (note to self, next time wear safety glasses lol!)

Everything looked good inside the motor, so not touching that at this stage. Original plan was for a forged VG, but the other motor came up at a good price.

I've got some time of work for a few weeks so the plan is to get the motor all back together and in the zed and ready for all the fiddly little bits. I'm taking it to the exhaust shop this time, doing the exhaust with the VH in it drove me bonkers and I'm not doing that again :p It was worse than making the extractors! I'll be using the old Magnaflow mufflers I had with the V8.

So yeah, fun and games :D Will be putting some piccies up in the next day or so.

I must say with the US$ how it is I'm very tempted to go all out...

Hmmm, we'll see ;) I'm not in the financial position at the moment to swing too far from 'normal' :p If I didn't buy this stupid house I would have a 20B in the shed...

Haha, zed is at my parents, and I'm not :p Probably Wednesday I'll get some and put them up.

More importantly, does this stupid house have a decent shed?

Are you going to invest in some ceramic coating before it goes back together?

I'd love to, but I just don't have the money or time anytime soon :(

Nah, I like the zed. If I didn't buy the stupid zed I would have missed out on heaps of fun stuff :)

Afraid not Peter :( Double carport that I will enclose. Leaving the zed and my tools at my parents place in the big shed there. Just easier that way.

Wasn't planning on it, on a bit of a tight budget and timeframe. If I can get some DIY stuff I'd think about it.

Indeed I do Baz ;) Have to see if it will clear the new injectors. S2 tops on S1 injectors in S1 rails don't clear S1 plenums.

Heh, nice effort there. I like that bit where its all accumulated parts. Nothing is ever left spare when you're around. You always seem to get in on the best buys...always.

Touch with the house issue too. We have a new house, no big shed (yet) and an open 2 bay garage. 3 cars. Not a heap of free flowing money. Its a big change, i can tell you that! Especially when you have a ship load of parts that need installing. Im using black tarps to enclose mine as a temporary fix.

But again, awesome stuff as always, should be good to see you enjoying yourself if the red beasty again. Even though you passed on the V8 after all that time.

Btw, pics or it didnt happen. House and parts list.

Hehe, I'm a impulsive buyer and it has worked well so far :p

No piccies of either yet :( Really should get off my arse :p

My 2 weeks leave go cut down to 3 days :( Things have gone wrong at work so in the interest of it not getting worse I have gone back :(

Spent this morning working on the zed getting some basic stuff done.

Stripped the plenum down that came off Baz's 'vert. I'm using this one as it's a S2 and will clear my new injectors without a die grinder. I cut all the useless water pipes off it and gave it a bath in CT14 then a high pressure blast, came up very nice and shiny.

Also pulled the throttles off and gave them a clean, they were so gunky they weren't shutting properly.

Painted the cam covers and the lower timing belt cover. Just going with black. Going for the 'naaaahhhh mate, stock as' look ;) All my silicone is black, nothing will be polished except the radiator and the crank pulley which is bright blue and will stand out like dogs balls :(

Removed a set of injectors out of a spare rail (RIP poor little NA injectors ) Worked out how to get them out without damage on the last one haha!

Went and visited my heads at Eric's shop too, looking very nice indeed :) One head was done and the other about to be. Apparently there was much swearing putting the heavy duty valve springs in lol! Hope he hasn't forgotten the lower plenum and exhaust manifolds :p

I will try and get some piccies of everything tomorrow. Would like to strip the old turbos of all the oil and water lines, clean them out and put them on the HKS's. If all goes well I should have the motor back together next weekend.

How exactly? I used a pair of multi-grips but still caused a bit of damage. Nothing terrible, but damage is damage.

I just used a small flat head screw driver.. pull up on injector, push down on rail and stick screw driver in the gap for the o-ring and leaver them out.. didn't little/no damage as i used the o-ring to cushion the screw driver!

Maybe mine weren't stuck as bad as most?

    Just a few sockets and a 6" vice ;)

Got the heads back from Eric all nice and ported like. He also did the lower plenum and exhaust manifolds. Heavy duty valve springs and cams are installed too.

Got the heads torqued up on Saturday and gave the fancy torque wrench it's first proper use.

Chucked on the manifolds and turbos, lots of fun with those hardlines  Going braided next time! Set the gates to 14psi while it was all apart too.

Just waiting on my JUN exhaust cam gears from Rob before dialing in the cams and putting the rest of it together (no pressure or anything Rob :p)

I've got some piccies, but only on the iphone so are pretty crap. Will take some good ones later when I can be bothered :p Just looks like a engine with shiny cam gears :p

  20. Mitch

    Mitch Has one gear: GO

So this is essentially a NA--> TT conversion?
What timeframe are you looking at until completion?

Looking back at the rebuilds I've been involved with, spending the extra dollars on quality braided fittings is a good idea, especially if you want peace of mind, or will be pulling it apart a bit. Baron did a good job on his IIRC.
