Awesome day guys, but geez it was cold down at the island! 4 layers of clothing only just kept me warm, but thankfully the rain kept away.

Was great to see some of the usual Vic crew again (Mikey, Jack, Mark, Dave, Sean, Ben, Pete & Jen, Alex & Kirby, Graeme & Jen, Stu & Zeta), and was also excellent to meet & chat to Dean (DinoZ) all the way from NSW, and DieselDave & the Evade!

Thanks to Mikey for putting this cruise up and getting us motivated to attend. Those that couldn't make it sure missed a great day...

I've got over 900 photos from the day so I'll go through them and try and put a selection of the best up over the next few days.

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

The 370Z was Robin Bailey in #29.
Good to see times dropping throughout the day - well done to Alex (badxtc) as the fastest of the forum group, and to Pete for cracking that 2 minute barrier. And thanks to those that organised the weather for keeping the rain away :D:cool:. Great day, great people, great fun.

What a day. Heaps of fun. I need a race seat and better brackes. The stock one are not cutting it any more. But we all did great. But not tecky because you made me shit myself. Great day.

Teky. Aka slaptrader has a new name. The BLACK STIG.

And a big thankS to dinoz for helping me out with tools and almost all his tape and water. Cheers mate I owe you one. I hope you had a good time here in Vic.

Peter has this crazy fuel filling thing and I want one.

    Cold semi's, a sharp corner and a heavy foot @ 80klm/hr = 360 degree excursion. :D

You should talk. Who run out of brakes and made me take the exit runoff after you couldnt decide to go round or not, then half went around the corner. DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME:p

    I have video evidence !!!

But you know what ?? I had a great time. The racing was good, but hangin with my mates was better.

I said to Pete last night it was just like a mini Nationals. THAT was fantastic weekend.

Cant wait till the Nationals are in Vic, especially if its at Phillip Island again.

Hahaha so funny. At the point of you going for a DRIVE into the grass and I seen the arse bounce around like that and hiting the track full sidways at those speeds , I was like WTF I had my finger in the seat belt buckle , getting ready to come get you. I'm not going to say what was going on in my mind at that point. I don't know about the 80 ks to me, behind you, looked more like 100+.

Yeah stupid brakes but I did just just made that corner.

I just can't wait till your race car is ready so I can take it around the track. That's going to be one crazy gun.

You mean over the top at the back of the circuit? I was going about 140 klm/hr !! (earlier I was talking about the hairpin on the outlap)

I watched the video last night. When i came over the top the sun was sitting right on the road. I couldnt see shit. Was trying to hit the very edge of the track till i couldnt see where it was, Then the front wheel strayed onto the dirt. 4WDing ensued

Cant upload the video till wedenesday. Reached our broadband limit last week. (kids downloading music:mad:)

Glad you got some decent weather for it, it was looking a bit grim for a while.

Shame I could not make it, I'll have to do better next time!

Hey looks like you guys had some fun. Hey Tecky you are only 16 seconds slower than The Slot Car's time from three years ago, and car is much faster now. I know, not your race car and first time out was it?

    What were the conditions like?

  14. Tektrader

12-16C, windy, dry, first time on the track

I think there was another 2 secs at least in the road car. But the last run was majorly held up with one paticular pce of traffic. ( I dont get how people wont let you past. It aint a race) I just couldnt get a good go.

I was quite pleased with a few things. The road car is basically stock with FMIC, 14 psi and Eibach/KYB suspension. The guy who held me back had Vinces old car, coilovers, HKS turbos, AP racing HUGE brakes and newer semi's than I. On corners and under braking he was hopeless. I just couldnt get past on the straights. AND he was only slightly faster in a line and couldnt leave me behind.

So I had 3 laps of about 2.05 following him. I am positive I could have gotten under 2.00 given a chance. Next time. Was so frustrated after I finally got past him I pushed too hard into the afternoon sun on the last lap of the last session and went 4WDing.

    The video is AWESOME.

BUT my stock car is bloody great :D:D:D Unbelievable amount of grip from RE55's. I was still exploring their limits. Sliced over 10 seconds off from lap one to lap 4 in the first session and another 2 sec in the second :D Still had 40+KG of stereo stuff and the spare in the boot to weight the rear properly

Learning heaps is GOOD practise for the REAL car. :)

    GO Tecky.
Hmm conditions not ideal but not too bad was it sunny at least or has that gone for afew months down there?

That vid was The Slot Car overtaking genuine GIO Bathurst Gibson GTR, although I suspect not driven to it's potential that day with cautious new owner. He was on the loud pedal down the straight.

    Pics are up!

The day started at 8am with a small grouping at a Hungy Jacks in Cranbourne that included me, TQE (Sean), Jedi (Mark), Altered State (Dave), zxtt-1 (Jack) and RedZedMikey (Mikey). We waited until 8:20 for any other members to arrive before we began the cruise down to the island. Was not a good start to the day as it rained for a good part of the day down, and when we arrived the track was quite wet.

A lot of interest early on was centered around Dave (DieselDave) and the Evade. It mightn't look like a zed but it sure does sound like one! The Evade was in groups 2 and 4 - Dave and (i think) Chris were both driving it.

I moved up to the roof above the pits to observe the zed group, who were all in group 5. Here they are on the dummy grid just after the session has started - Wykked has already departed, BadXtc is just leaving, and Tekky and the others are waiting...

Here is Dean (DinoZ) heading down the main straight...

Tekky cutting short his first session due to a coilpack connector coming loose...

For session 3, us observers moved over to MG corner for some different perspectives. Here are RZM, Blipman, Jedi, and zxtt-1:

    The unknown zedder...

This Skyline was so quick it was unbelievable. Haven't checked the timesheets but it would not surprise me if this was one of the fastest cars on the day...

Have a look at the high res file of the cars in the dummy grid, I think you can see the badges on the back of it.

  20. BigCol

    BigCol That's what she said...

Good idea that, and probably should have through of it myself!

The badge above the number plate says "Lotus", the sticker below the number plate is a bit fuzzy but appears to say "ChargeCooler", and the sticker on the right says "300 Sport"...

So I'd assume it is an old Esprit of some kind.
