there not a slow car in either form

i was looking for an na when i bought mine, but just happened to find a tt that i wanted instead.
wouldnt trade it for the world now but im sure i would have been equally satisfied with the na zed
i would dearly love to see someone work the tits of an na with exhaust, extractors, cams, headflow etc and see just how far these motors can be pushed without any forced induction,i think that well over 200kw at the flywheel would be more than acheivable, maybe even creeping towards 250kw at the fly....who knows i havent seen anyone try it yet?
and yes i know that dollar for dollar its a crap idea, but still.......

    N/A OWNERS UNITE !!!

Don't sell yourself short !!! It's true, the TT is easily modifiable to surpass (embarrass) many ICONs of the performance car market, current/future/and past.

But don't continually compare the N/A to the TT. The N/A stands on its own merits!!!

The N/A competes and surpasses many non-Nissan cars that have an extra 2 cylinders or some blowers. The N/A is a very quick car in its own right! I love my N/A. Granted, TTs are down right brutes, but the N/A has finesse. It's more refined. I enjoy selecting just the right gear for a situation and using this with the a better diff ratio to flog the local Holden/Falcon fleet, and most other competition.

I drive my N/A Monday to Friday, I flog most cars during the week, and I love it !!!

So, a big raspberry to those TT bigots. (Hang on .... am I both an idealist and a bigot at the same time ??? ... some further thought needed here.)

Yes, I enjoy the sheer PULL (your socks off) of the TT, but I also completely enjoy the competitiveness that the N/A brings to the challenge. You have to drive the car better. It has handling, grip and go. Use the clutch well, use the gearbox well, use the peak power well, and you'll perform better. The N/A is a great challenge.

    Just my opinion.

    Cheers,

    Peter

Assuming a 25% drivetrain loss, JEDI77's car already produces over 200kw at the flywheel. 206KW to be precise. As a fellow NA owner, i too would one day like to test the limits of the VG30DE and see how far it can go (finances permitting!). What i'd like to see is a VG30DE surpass the power output of the 3.0L V6 from the Honda NSX by a good margin.

    Yes Yes Yes !!!

I 100% agree ... the N/A doesn't have the power of the TT's and hence requires more driving skill to get the best out of it. Power is only one part of the equation, handling is another and there is no reason why a N/A can't handle at least as good as a TT if not better. On a tight downhill twisty section of road power doesn't help much anyway.

I've been involved in the Adelaide Classic for a number of years now and time and time again the more powerful cars don't always win. Look at Jim Richards in the Targa Tasmania - he drives a Carrerra 2 GT which has less power and only drives through the rear wheels c.f. some of the other Porsches in the event but won the event - and does so regularly.

And isn't driving a beautiful car like the 300ZX all about having fun and enjoying what you've got?

In all my time of owning my NA zed, from a point to point consideration nothing compares to it (apart from a TT). I luv taking my zed through the Royal National Park just south of sydney and i always seem to catch up to other cars and no one catches me. I do like watching other cars attempt at keeping up or trying to get away. There so funny as you can see them struggling big time with turn in and body roll but pride wont let them stop. Go the NA.

    Agreed

Not only does the NA 300ZX have more power than a stock turbo 180SX, 200SX and some GTST's, but handles much better. Driving is not all about straight lines. We had an NA on this forum do a 1/4mile in 14.53 seconds. Brilliant. The NA also embarrasses many other cars on the track.

(of course, the above cars do have more torque)

sure... but they dont have any turbos.. wouldnt the same driver in a TT be even faster again? more driving skill?? please explain?

tight downhill twisty section?? have to get up the hill to be able to go down it? which part o the NA makes it handle better down this bit? (assuming driver skill mentioned above is equal in both cars.. be stoopid to plant right foot)

more powerful cars dont win?? how about equal cars but one of em has more power? your talking about the 600hp 67 camaro right?

a carerra gt2 had the 4wd removed to make it handle better and weigh less.. real drivers dont need nor want 4wd) and it has more power than the other carreras

but at the end of the day.. NA drivers all really wish they had a pair of snails under there.. you know it. we know it.. but some other unforseen circumstance made you "settle" with a car that really is missing something..

*giggles like a little school girl*

    my favourite gears.....

My experience with the zed gears is this....

I hate first gear. It revs up quicky as its meant to, but seems really short for some reason.

Second gear takes me all the way to 100kms, about 7000rpm.....

Third gear is my fave for some reason (dont know why) as it really winds out...

Never tried 4th and 5th yet under "aggressive" driving conditions as third gear gets me high enough where I have to really start slowing down....

But I really am a shit launcher... I cant launch properly to save my life. I always seem to bog down at the take off, and by then, it takes away the feeling of a good start.... but on those rare occasions where I have gotten it right, it feels awesome.....

    Cheers

    heheheheheheh

but at least we dont create smoke screens as you TT boys do when your "snails" decide to bite the dust...

Also, I guess we dont have to worry about having to the pull the engine to replace our "non existant" turbo's....

Also, whereas a great TT engine rebuild will cost you about 7-10K plus to factor in those "turbo's" us NA guys can rest assured that a 6k max rebuild will give us an awesome NA engine...... but hangon, of course we wont have as much power as the TT guys so that means our dicks must also be smaller..:)

Considering that I have owned my NA zed for a lot longer than many members on this forum, I must have a really small dick...lol...:)

    Cheers

(Edit: Bugger, why dont we get smily faces??? all those red crosses are meant to be smily faces. Ok, I'm gonna go play with my small NA dick now...)

    Whats missing in the NA?

The NA has a class all of its own.

Besides, its lighter, has a higher diff ratio and higher compression. WILL beat the crap out of 99odd% cars you are travelling with and still looks the goods.

Nothing missing in the NA's. Whats missing in a lot of TT's though is money in the owners bank accounts :) lol

Ya ya i'd have to agree, 3rd Gear is my fav, whether its dropping back down to second just before a tight corner and slamming it back into 3rd at around 6-7rpm just before you come out, gives a nice little kick into the straight :)

Thing i like about cornering in the N/A is that you can play around mid corner without having to worry about the ass flying out too badly, definately much better control.

I've also never come across another car that handles as well as the 300 on the road.

Jedi, i'm looking at doing the... accountants gasp... full upgrade on the N/A, i'm hoping you can shed some pointers from experience.

    GO THE NA!!

Id just about given up on these type of threads, good to see this one getting the support it deserves. Ive beaten my fair share of V8s and 4 cylinder turbos, only once have I well and truely been hammered and that was by a car that was obviously an unregistered track car out on hunting trip, all other loses werent that massive:zlove:

    Luv my N/A

I have from the moment I test drove it:zlove: The thought of not buying it because it wasn't a TT, never even entered my mind. The fact that it hugs the road, is a pleasure to drive, makes roundabouts feel like slight curves and is always the first off at the lights without trying was enough for me. As for looks, well any Zed comes first place, when it comes to style in my book, TT or NA..

Ya ya, well i bought the N/A with the plan to own it for a year or two to get a good feel for the car, possibly keep it as my daily driver, and then find the biggest meanest TT to thrash :)

I'm still having fun with my n/a car though :)

I have beaten 2 TT's around the Northern Beaches / North Shore area, one guy asked if my TT had been fully modded, I came back with, mate its pretty much a stock N/A - he was quite gob smacked.

BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA , thats the funniest thing ive heard all day  the tt mustve been in safety boost huh?
Its one thing to beat a 4cyl turbs but come on guys... beating a tt in a na of any proportions is stretching the truth....
