VIC NSW/VIC Winton Tampered Tack Day 4 Nov 08

I have to work on the Monday Graham so that option is out for Jen and I unfortunately.

 

I plan on staying the night up there.

Peter/graham we (myself and Peta) will be staying the Monday night in the area, as i am sick of the 4am starts to get to winton. Will see what is avalaible as I am not keen on having the cars out in a 'public area'.

 

Sounds good Dave, If you can have a look for a motel we will get a room as well.

 

I'll have a look into it.

Addam (big dady) he lives in the area, he might be able to help. I'll ask him and shane.

 

As far as budget accommodation goes, Trekkers Rest have good cheap rooms and I am pretty sure your cars will be safe there.

Pub accommodation, The Commercial Hotel in Benalla is excellent, but no secure parking.

And probably the Avondel Motel is the best of the motels, it is next to the police station.

If you want somewhere to put your car, you could leave it at the track overnight, as long as you didn't get in too late.

Might take you up on the storing at the track option, I'll look at the hotels first as I will have the Minister for War and Finance with me. :bow2::bow2:

 

When you book in make sure you tell them you are coming to Winton, it doesn't hurt for the locals to know how much the raceway brings to the community.

Good point will do. I imagine there are a band of the do-gooders that think any form of fun in a car is equivalent of terrorism, and love for the track to be closed. Anymore joy with the local cop shop being a bit more supportive of it?
Note the little blue car will not be making it as I have managed to wreck the box. Looks like I'll save the $ and put another sequential like the track car in.

Dammit, I don't think I'll be able to get my car ready for this one. I'll still come up to hang out, but I think the December event might be a better bet for me. Any chance we can use the full course rather than the short course in December, Adam?

iv been there for all the vicdrift days for the past 2 years.

its a GREAT TRACK! very entertaining and will keep u pushing ur car all day.

Agreed, first track I ever drove on and I keep returning to it to sample its many charms. Have yet to take the Z out, unfortunately. Hopefully that will change in December

 

It is my favourite tract to watch motorsport at, I have not driven there though.

Great to hear about hte article. Not sure what is happening with the magazine one. I have had my arse hanging out with the studies, and the other things...... I'll tell you more at either the November or December track day.
As for the full or short, change is good as a holiday. But it might get a bit crowded.
Noting Peter's comments sounds like we are all freeing up a bit towards the end of the year. Maybe the Phillip Island on the 4th of December is a good idea. A pack of Zeds to out weigh the swamp of mx5s that usually turn up.

 

Fianl reminder

Well. This is a final reminder for all the Melbourne guys that are wondering what to do for the Melbourne cup day. Piss off watching the gee gees and come to Winton.
There are a few going, and it would be great to see you up there. Whilst, I am heading up either the night before or in the early hours of Tuesday morning for scrutineering, there are a few others coming up to watch later in the day. A few maybes, I think kr4usy, instamatic, Wykked??, Peter Black?? Tekkie will be there driving his beautiful read rocket around, not sure what time he is heading up.
I?d love to suggest a cruise up but noting I ?cruise? at a terminal velocity of 80-90km/hr in the x-trail (fair crack it is just a pulsar on a lift kit). I would think it I would count me out, I need to head off a little earlier. Those who come up I plan on setting up in the lower pit shelters (more room), I?ll keep a couple of bays spare for Tekkie and visitors.
I know it is a bit of a hike, but I think it is worth the effort. Especially for those thinking about having a go at a track day, just come and watch for a while you?ll get a good idea if you want to do it or not. Also, it is a very social atmosphere and it would be great to see a few forum members.

 

I am out for this one as I will be off in the middle of nowhere but am almost definitely in for the December one.
