Just want to know what I should do if Im not going to drive the car for 2 months. Should I be taking the battery out or is it better to leave it in as it's not really that long. Anything else I should do?

Not sure on taking the battery out, but if it was me i'd start it every day or two, just to make sure things keep working. I know how cars have a nasty habit of running dodgy if you don't start them for a while..

    Cheers,

i bought mine with no license and it hasnt been out of the drive way in 2 months,

keep in mind if you leave the battery in there, it will die, so make sure you have a charger or a spare one handy to jump the car when you let it run.

start it at least once a week, and let it run for half an hour, once its warm just sit it at 3000 revs for 5 min or so, to flush the system. roll it back and forth each time turning the steering wheel lock to lock to make sure its all running correctly.
    cheers ben

its a hard question to answer publically

ill be doing SEVERAL things to my car to ensure it doesn't move while im away

but im not really willing to share any of them on a public forum or with people I dont know lol.

just have a think about how to make YOUR car the most imobile while you're away.

    thats all it takes.

And even though Im getting house sitters, ALL car keys will be going with me to UK :D

...hmm...hope they dont burn the house down

"yeah we tried to save your car but......" lol

what you want to get is a trickler. in essence its like a battery charge, but only trickles a small amount of charge to the car.

my old man has a few vintage cars which only get taken out once a month or so, so he keeps them connected up to a trickler so the battery stays charged. great for cars with immobilisers etc which will sit there for a month or so and the immobiliser light slowly discharges the battery.

they cost about $40 and Repco or Super cheap sell them. fantastic investment for people with zeds that are weekenders only.

left mine idle for 4 years... maybe did 5km in that time. Not really the smartest thing i ever did. Up to 7000 in parts alone (thus far) to get it going again.

I thought if you do this , you would have to take the positive off the battery terminal ? or is it safe to do this with the terminal connected?

yah if you ever gonna leave a car for a long period of time without starting, fill everything upto the top with oil

your car won't seize up in 2 months. alot of people say put it on stands, disconnect the batt, change the oil and fill all fluids up.

    and a nice dust cover.

8 months and counting with no regular starts... stat it once every 2 or 3 months atm, just to stop things getting sticky...
but back to specific question asked, i would disconnect the battery and put fresh fluids (oil etc) in it before you leave and quiet possible a couple wheel clamps and a huge chain on te back axle connected to a huge pole... this way it wont start or have chance of removal

oh.. yeah.. take the fuel pump fuse out too.... best immobiliser is a dead car.

Make sure its a dust cover that wont mark the paint, like those cheapy ones you get.

mate i ahd my daily garaged and locked yet i still found it 3 blocks down the road after a weekend away..... garages are not as secure as people think, and door locks are easily busted

if the car sits for any kind of lengthy amount of time without starting or moving to get the oil circulating and protecting parts, can still cause damage to internals, no oil protection after all oil has drained down can = condensation which in turn = water + metal which then in turn = rust, what does not necessarily mean it will seize depending of lenght of time, but will = unecessary wear

but yeah obviously it is unlikely to cause any drama in 2 months, but hey stranger things have happened ^_^

Well it will be locked in a secure garage with it's own alarm system and I will disconnect a few things, also wont be leaving keys behind. There will be someone at my house but I don't want them to be touching the car. Why should I change the oil now? I was planning to add fresh oil when I got back. I guess 2 months is not a big deal, maybe just a flat battery.

is better to have fresh oil "sticking" to your engine rather than old shit oil that has crap already in it, which could then be stuck to the engine... not a huge thing, but is nice to keep a zed as clean as possible

depends on how padantic you are, if i was leaving my car for 2 months + id prolly fully drain oil and fill new oil right to top
