Figured as much, nah going to GTX2867's just doing a few mods to get the stock turbos working a little better till the other motor is finished
Thanks to Rob for wiring up my eboost2, didnt get to set it up because i had to go to work. Really suprised how well the zed can go with the stock turbos, had some fun with a VE R8 and AMG C63 :-D
APEXi EL2 Boost Gauge and Turbosmart Eboost2 Here's one i think is funny, this is what the car looked like a few months before i bought it in '09 BEFORE: AFTER:
You can't imagine how anxious i am to get it on ethanol man, got the injectors and plugs sitting on my desk but still waiting on BDE rails......Selin dual MAF came and the second MAF i bought is still in the mail too It'll get there soon, i'm loving the Eboost2.. although i don't see the point of a high boost/low boost setup.....ITS ALWAYS ON HIGH BOOST! :br:
You'll have the most god damn satisfying moment ever ripping out those junky press-bent U pipes that route underneath the headlights to the AFM T-piece, it's a great feeling
Installed the selin today but turns out the afm i bought is cactus so i borrowed one. Not a big difference in my opinion, 15psi had a small improvement in the mid range but nothing amazing....definately not the 30hp claimed
The selin dual intake is only for when chasing big power and the single becomes a restriction (500+hp). I wouldn't be expecting much if any difference over the stock air intake on a mild engine.
It was testing i did in relation to this : http://specialtyz.com/blog/?p=849 All i can say is the car feels like its picked up maybe 10hp or so on 15+psi setting and nothing at all below that. The link i posted claimed 30hp on a sub 300hp car on 12-13psi boost...
You're still on stock turbos right? They could be so close to tapped out that you don't see any bonus air just a bit better compressor efficiency, have you been tracking manifold air temperatures at all? Not saying you're wrong, just another possible explanation.
Still on stockers, havent logged iat's at all. From 15psi to 18psi there is a noticeable difference if only barely. At 12psi i cant feel anything at all.... feels exactly the same as the single intake. Wasnt expecting miracles in any case, sounds really different spooling up though .
Wasn't too happy with how the car went on lower boost levels so i had a bit of a play with the ignition timing, stupidly i had been playing with the timing thinking my CAS was at 15*.......big mistake, its actually closer to 10 and thats why the car felt like it had no guts unless i crammed 15psi+ down its throat. Gave it 4 degree's over what it had previously and bloody hell it goes harder on 13psi than it did in 17 previously. Started at 6psi and just worked my way up to 16 again slowly, survived the entire night so it can't be that bad Still really needs a proper tune, i can only do so much with the ecutalk and an FPR. Only bad thing is with how short the gearing is in 1st and 2nd even low boost will blaze the tyres.
Gotta run semi slicks to be serious about traction. I can put 20psi to the road in 2nd gear. No issues As they say, spinning ain't winning
Getting a set of ET Streets soon for my stock rims, still need to sort out a few other issues before i go spending money on them though. Really suprised the NA clutch is holding up fine, had it for 30,000km in the NA, 50 drag runs, hundreds of launches etc and still holds just fine even behind a TT motor on 16psi......not bad for something that cost $230 delivered :br:
I may do a power run on the dyno in the next week or two to see where it stands, should be interesting.....i hope the bomb can manage a 200+kw run
Well.... spoke to soon about the clutch. Seems its finished, still grips but theres a nice metal on metal grinding going on. Time for a jim berry clutch.
