The bloody saga continues. Can one use a NA block with all the TT stuff switched over? Or is it too much drama?
Yes, but you should remove the two NA check valves in the oil filter tree area on the blick and plug the holes. Swap TT oil squirter's over, if you are using OEM TT pistons. I had a look for OEM part numbers for the plugs, was hard to be sure, a machine shop should be able to sort that out.
First picture is NA. Second picture is TT. TT tree on the right has relief valves in tree, they lead of to an oil cooler the NA does not have. Also found this while searching for pictures.
Great stuff, I will make up some blanking plugs. Don't suppose you would have a TT short block grade 2, std bore lurking around? What the hell is my daughter doing in your photo's LOL.
So if you're running an aftermarket cooler through a sandwich plate and have the stock one blocked off you essentially have no relief system if the filter gets blocked?
Blind plug part number 11022-16A00 (2 required). http://www.conceptzperformance.com/...ar_Type=NIS300&UID=2013080203274366.249.73.37
Well there are some possibilities if the valve pressure is the same or the TT valves from the tree could be fitted to the NA block and run a NA tree etc, this would give more space for the sandwich plate etc. Just trying to see if the check valves are the same part number. Im sure this has all been done before but what the hell.
I think it should work the same. They both still have the pressure relief valves, just the TT is in the oil filter tree where the filter (or sandwich plate) bolts on. Should still work the same regardless.
I think Ryzan was saying that if you had a TT with no relief valves in the block and the stock TT filter tree with the oil cooler exit blocked. And a sandwich plate. Then yes the oil filter tree relief system would not work. But there is a relief valve in the oil pump as well.
I think Ryzan was saying that if you had a TT with no relief valves in the block and the stock TT filter tree with the oil cooler exit blocked. And a sandwich plate. Thinking about this it must return oil to the main gallery as if the filter was blocked what good is running it through a cooler and dumping it in the sump. But there is a relief valve in the oil pump as well.
Are you sure? This is exactly what I'm doing and I can't see any reason why these valves won't still work. They aren't being blocked off in any way. That part of the circuit is unchanged.
Brisz, for future reference the pic you used is of LHD oil trees. RHD cars have a tree which comes down at an angle to clear the steering rack, there is no height difference between RHD NA/TT just one has the outlet and one doesn't
^^ Yep, and I believe the RHD NA oil filter tree has the bypass valves built in, same as the TT? So does the RHD NA block have these blocked the same as the TT also?
Well that explains the issues in FAST I was having, sorry guys was pressed for time and ****ed it up. Vote to delete.
Think I will strip down the NA block and have a look see what I have this week end coming. The block I have is N.A. auto.
If it does they aren't in the same place, you can see in that photo the TT tree has the little ball bearing things but the NA doesn't
I would just add an edit to the post so its clear when people find it in searches. Here's a thread where Shane was asking about them, should help http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329521
