you bastard I was watching that one! Had it all planned out, it was already relisted once so soon he'd lower his hefty starting price & I'd swoop! muwahahaha!!! but then someone (you) actually coughed up the money & my plans feel in a heap... did you get it through streeter then? because I got a quick quote through importmonster & it was pretty pricey shipped...
Hehehe. I waited years and had all but given up hope for one. And yea it wasn't exactly cheap, but still less then a genuine 2k Wing lol. Yes I got it with Jesse Streeter too, Martin also recommended him. Very nice guy to deal with. And you already have a pristine example of a Zed, consider this as sharing the love among your fellow Zed comrades. MoulaZX
I've considered your argument & come to the conclusion I don't care, I want that wing! Congrats mate, looks awesome. No to start hassling Mike to sell his...
I'm going to have a lot of spare time sitting around in the next fortnight or so... I'll see what I can do!
Update: Secret Number 2 So this is Secret Number 2. Pretty sure most of you know these... Bought a set off Simlenton a short while ago and they just arrived today. Thanks for the smooth & trouble free sale, Simon! They look fantastic. MoulaZX
Update: Progress Shots of Heads Swung by Head Builder's place to check on progress, he should be finished within a day or two. I had forgotten to drop off the valve stem seals. Took some quick progress shots, sorry about quality, but I'm loving that finish. Looks shmick! Turns out both heads were milled incorrectly. He was telling me as he took it through the machine, it was eating surface from the front and the back of the heads, and almost left the middle completely untouched. He also mentioned he had a straight edge over the top of the head prior to milling and managed to squeeze a 3 thou piece under the middle, but not the edges. Anyhow I'm told the heads are back to perfect condition and should cause zero issues. So we'll see. (Sorry about the phone camera quality pictures, I'll take better shots when I get the Heads back tomorrow and have access to my DSLR.) This first shot is of the 2nd head that just came off the mill. He hasn't taken the oil + stone to it yet so consider this the semi-before picture. Completed surface finish. Like a damn mirror... will be getting the surface RA tested shortly as well when I take the heads to my Block Assembler to measure the CC value and calculate compression ratio to make sure everything is still in normal limits. MoulaZX
even though your heads have had a a fair bit of milling (which raises comp) the spark plug boss has been removed (which lowers comp) so you should be pretty close to normal .. And if it turns out to be slightly over 8.5 ..leave it
Cool. But what would be considered "slightly" over? 8.7? 9? I know standard is 8.5 for a TT and 10.5 for an NA, but thats all I know. Was going to be seeking advice if my ratio was too high anyhow. In theory though, even if my ratio was slightly higher, wouldn't that just mean I can make a little more power for less boost? (...to a degree of course, I'm not saying an NA with 10 PSI will equal a TT with 20 PSI) MoulaZX
Minor Update: Pictures of Gauges Illuminated Had some spare time this morning and curiosity got the better of me... All Gauges Off: All Gauges On: Tacho Off: Tacho On: Speedo Off: Speedo On: MoulaZX
Update: Powder Coating Finished In keeping with the Black & Orange theme, I've decided to Powder Coat the Plenum + Balance Pipe + Water Pipes off the Block, Black to match the rest of the Intake system and Engine Bay. The Intake pipes on the left are part of the 2.5" custom pieces made up for me and were Powder Coated by Mungyz. The Intake pipes on the right are part of the AMS 2.5" Intake pipes kit I purchased. Very happy to see how very similar the finishes on 3 separate works came out. Job was done by: DURACOAT Pty Ltd 4 Coombes Drive Penrith, NSW 2750 Phone: 4731 1974 Fax: 4731 1505 Email: duracoatptyltd1@bigpond.com I dealt with a guy named Peter. (By the way, thanks Lloyd for the suggestion. ) No Flash With Flash MoulaZX
Thanks. The Orange, won't be Powder Coated, I'm picking up some cans of VHT and hitting my Callipers, Rocker Covers & Timing Covers with the stuff myself. If I'm not happy with the finish, then I'll Powder Coat. Just want to have a go at it myself first lol. Had a bit of snafu with them today though, the wrong Cans came in. Mistake on the order. No drama, takes a day for new stuff to come in so I'll have the Cans tomorrow and set about doing the Rocker Covers + Timing Covers first. Callipers last as I still have the rebuild kit for them which I haven't done yet. MoulaZX
I bought them off a forum member here, simlenton. I can't recall the exact details of where he got them but I believe they were a one off custom job. He bought 2 sets, I bought the 2nd. There was talk of another order / group buy, but won't be happening for a long time. MoulaZX
Update: Engine Assembly Part 1 A few random pictures from today. Went smoothly for most of the day but have run into one big pain in the ass and have another question regarding Oil Tree. Both of which I'll explain in a sub post so I can link it to Z-Related Technical. Also, I am NOT keeping that orange in the below pictures. It doesn't look nearly as good in person. It is EXTREMELY Flat / Matte. Start of the morning. By Afternoon. Calling it a day. First without flash, second picture with Flash. MoulaZX
