Just called Tom to organize dropping off my new exhaust off next week.

He tells me he is currently in the process of shoe horning the new engine into my engine bay :D and should be ready next week around the same time I take the exhaust there.

He checked the turbo's seemed fine, but he is going to double check them against OEM tolerances for me to be sure.

Dropped the exhaust off on Saturday, got to have a quick look at the new engine (all lovely and clean) was in the process of slowly having parts from my motor swapped across.

Tom estimated completion sometime this week :)

Just got my license back, so hopefully any day now.

I like that. Using downtime to build a faster car :D

Well actually had the original time frame being kept to I would of had it done a few weeks before losing my license, still shit happens.

Just got hold of Tom then, hopefully will be finishing up next week for me.

    mmmm, so close.

Given the many delays we have experienced, I'll say its complete when Im driving it home.

This doesn't surprise me either, it's a real shame whats happened to PZP. Tom is a really nice guy don't get me wrong, but he's running a business which I and many other members have spent thousands at, so I'm not going to feel too bad for adding my 2c. The quality of work and service has gone downhill servilely and I'm not sure why tom would let this happen. Maybe it's his workers or he's giving himself too much work. Whatever the case is he's not doing right by the guys who were giving him business in the first place.

Tom on the 17/12/2010 after I had made my first payment with work apparently parts being ordered etc from this date.

So currently 8 months coming up to 9 months for a build that should have taken 11 weeks by toms Estimate.

I have my license back now and the car has been delayed another week for misc reasons. Ive been told the engine was in the process of being shoe horned in then when I arrive last weekend its still on its stand.

If its not finished next week (and I hope it is like Tom says) I guess I will have to go the legal route to motivate Tom which Id rather not do. Ideally you would pay for work and it would be completed in the quoted time or at least close to the original Time estimate.

Honestly, this whole experience is nearly enough to put me off the zed.

Jeez man! I really don't know how you've been so patient for so long 8-9months for a job that was quoted 11 weeks?
3 months I'd understand, 4 months I'd be out of there!
Should've got your car transported to QLD & gotten either Niall or Eric to do the job, then fly to QLD & drive back (which is what I did from Sydney) or get it transported back.
I know it would've been a headache to do it that way, but you would've been enjoying actually driving your Z right now instead of getting excuse after excuse.
Aren't there any other Z32 specialists on W.A?

My 0.02c - get your car out of there man - just get it towed home & work out another plan of action for someone else to do it.

Waiting that long is just offensive!

What ever the job is and who ever the mechanic is, there must be a lesson here about paying before the job is done. Once you've paid, the mechanic has lost half incentive to do the job.

    Hope it all works out.

    Cheers,
    Evan.

Yep lesson learnt, hopefully its fixed up next week like he said with no more delays and I will be happy. Im sure the quality will be fine, but the patience is wearing a bit thin etc. The girlfriend is more annoyed than I am.

Apparently everything is ready to go etc, though I have heard it before ;) and he has cleared up his schedule next week so he has time for my job. Engine was nearly ready to go in last time I saw it, Tom was just fitting the last of the accessories from my old one to the refreshed long motor. So yes, Im hoping he seriously gets stuck into it next week.

Sent Tom a sms this morning, saying hope its done this week and let me know if there are any more delays.

Got a call back, schedule is free and he is starting on it today. Hoping to have it done in the next 2-3.

Fingers crossed this epic saga is over and I can get back to driving the zed.
