    I'm interested.

Let me know total cost (postage vs pick-up) and if you'll be sourcing any additional connectors, etc.

    zulu..

no worries dude, but please add your name to my post in the group buy section... The group buy will remain open till the end of this month, and then if we have numbers, I will collect money from everyone and go ahead with the group buy...

    Cheers

    Hey - I'm in

    Hey,

I'm in. I'll organise you payment next week.
Hopefully I can cram her somewhere into the Zed engine bay )

    Cheers,

I'll be the odd one out. It's an absolute wank. As you said Yanks use it on house boats and classic cars that may only run a couple of times a year, pehaps usefull, but with engine design and oil technology you will rarely find even an ultra-high mileage car with noticable wear. I'd like to survey all the recent engine re-builds and find how many had noticable wear. I know mine didn't

    fair enough...

it may be total wank who knows..... but I know one thing for sure.... It has gotten rid of my noisy lifter clatter at cold startup after not having driven the car for a few days... for me that was a god send and means I can wait till my next 100K service to get the lifters replaced....

some may argue it may not do any good (obviously your one of them..:)) but I think more importantly is the fact that it will do no harm...

the engine is definitely a lot quiter for those initial few seconds at cold startup. So take that as you will...

    Cheers

lol to say something like that is a wank is quite funny. Everyone man and his dog knows that nearly all wear occurs when you first crank the engine. There are no such things as oils which stick to metal etc, in fact, magnatec or whatever it was called was banned from a lot of places because it was proved that oil can NOT be made magnetic. I know a lot of people who have had engines stripped down after a few thousand k's and had their anti-wear coatings worn off and hpc/swain coatings completely gone, so if that isn't wear then what is?

anyhow, that's just my opinion, if you don't like, don't buy, simple.

Does that also mean that anti-wear coatings and hpc/swain coatings are also a bit of a wank? I'd still like to hear from the recent re-builders with their experiences on engine wear. But you'r right Jedi it wont hurt:)

They pretty much are, kyle from IPP explained it all to me (and if he isn't a reputable engine assembler, then who is?) all they do is help with the bedding in of the bearings where as having a pressurized system ensures that oil is always going to be around the journals and all other parts. For the price, it's a good investment IMO. Lots of tests show that HPC coating external parts helps temps, but others have said it is a wank, some say that you shouldn't wrap manifolds in blankets/tape, some say you should. I think even JP said that external coating on manifolds just comes off eventually as well.

    Each to their own.

Like I said, it certainly won't hurt, but because the oil will flow through the path of least resistance ( you can't change the laws of physics), and where its hooked in, who's to say the little squirt of oil isn't just dumping back through the oil pump into the sump. I certainly can't see it pumping up a collapsed lifter! That would take a fair bit of pressure and the weight of the cam would have to be removed from the lifter (close valve)

    Baron I disagree....

firstly, its not a little squirt of oil..... the accumaltor tank holds between 500-700 ml of oil... I havent measured it exactly... Considering that the oil galleries in the engine are very narrow, it doesnt take much oil to pressurize the oil system....

secondly, for the OPS to register any pressure, it means that all bearings must be under some sort of pressure....with hydraulics, if there is pressure on one place there has to be pressure on all bearings at the same time....

thirdly, my engine is a good test subject because it has noisy lifter tick on cold startup for a few seconds..... with the preluber, this cold startup lifter tick is no longer present..... which means that oil is in fact getting up into the heads and doing its job.... Now, I agree, I dont think this system will pump up the lifters for you, but what it does definitely do is provide a system for getting the oil up into the heads and in the vicinity of the lifters, so when you do start the engine, the oil is already there and the mechanics of the engine will then pump the lifters up.....

so I disagree with your statement about the oil just being pumped into the sump....

    Cheers

very well said! I couldn't agree more.

Your still trying to change the laws of Physics. Your statement about pressure is only valid in a closed vessel.(Primary school physics) Oil will flow in the path of least resistance. (piston coolers, back through the pump, bearings etc) It's not a bad thing, lets close this debate:cool:
