I think you're taking the best of the two options really. There are certain advantages to buying a pretty banged up vehicle and bringing it back to working order rather than buying a functional car outright. For one thing it won't have as many nasty surprises in store for you down the track because you'll have already gone over it with a fine-toothed comb. There's also a particular satisfaction in it that you don't get when buying someone elses work. I did the same thing with my present motorbike.
hi mate really sorry to hear about your luck here but josh cool is right i simply cannot recommend Eric (A2Zed) enough, the man is a Z genius and you could not put it in safer and well priced.....very well priced hands i recently had mine sent down to him from bundaberg and it was the best money i have ever spent won't go in to detail about what i had done but if you can get it to him you will not regret it. Steve.
currently do not have a place to store it in brissy, but will see what i can do. but thumbs up for that good piece of advice, i reckon i can round up some good looking uni girls, lol
thanks Chrispy, will see what next week sunday will bring. and i will proceed from those results. if it is all green light, i will organise to have the car here in brisbane once i get back in february. but thanks a lot for offering your help, appreciate it very much.
that's a really good point there. did that with my first car aswell, is a total different feeling, it is your pride and joy if one has done everything oneself
thanks, i have heard a lot of good stuff from eric already, and will see what i can do, and when i can drop by his place in the near future. thanks for the tips
UPDATE: hey guys, last sunday i was back down in warwick and Gottago and BrisZ came down to offer their help and knowledge. we had a look at the car and to see whether it was worth it for me as a student to start a rebuilt. we came to the conclusion that with the little spare time and the car being in warwick and myself being in brisbane, it will not be suitable for me. however the engine looks fine, the compression rates turned out good for an engine that was tested cold. so i will be going overseas next week and will be looking at how to proceed with the sale next year in february once i get back. Once again a big thank you goes to all the support and advice i got from all of the forum members and especially to Gottago and BrisZ who volunteered to came down to Warwick and to help me out to make up my mind. A special thanks to both of you again for the awesome help and for coming down. really appreciate it a lot. So will be in contact next year again and hopefully with a new purchased Zed see you all around, cheers
   I'm sure ya could round up a few, but don't know how much would get done on your car, think some of the guys might be to busy "tuning" the girls
