hey guys, well some of you might already know and have read my other post concerning where i needed some help/ideas of an issue that is present with my recently purchased 1990 black TT 2+2 manual zed. however i went down to warwick this weekend and had a proper look at the vehicle as i wanted to get started on getting the zed back onto the road. i could see that most of the pipes and wiring are disconnected from the engine and that it needs some work. the clutch fan is missing, radiator is loose and the body and paint is in rough condition, with dints and scrapes here and there. interior can do with a clean up. i bought this vehicle two weeks ago from tweed heads in nsw and was assured by the owner that it was running 3 weeks before my purchase, but due to him connecting the battery wrongly, he burnt the wiring harness. (however this does not seem to be the case, as the wiring harness does not look burnt at all and is still the original one, even though he said he bought a new one and replaced the burnt one) so i reckon he fooled me there. the car has 164.000km on the clock, i do not have any figures of compression of the engine or whatsoever. but i do know that personally for me this is a project of too much effort/time and money, as i am a full time student and do not have the time nor funds for such a huge project, and therefore prefer selling the car again, to at least get some money back and to put that towards a good running zed in the coming year. i paid $4000 for the above zed as is. Please if someone could give me some price advice on what one can ask for the complete car, that would be great. i do not want to strip the car, as i do not have the time and space to do so, i need it gone complete. hoping to hear from you guys, cheers please see below the pics. car is stored in a shed in warwick and would need to be picked up by trailer. (earliest to be picked up would be next week saturday 12 November, as i am in exams in brisbane till then) (NOT STRIPPING FOR SPARES / WANTING TO SELL AS A WHOLE)
If its bog standard not running... $2k'ish considering its a manual... Dude, just get the car back to ur place, have a bbq, put on some beers and the guys from the forum will come and try get it running. If its running, its worth probably 4-5k considering its not licensed? Anyways, best of luck.
Wow dude you definitely got the wind up buying that one. Looks very "bitsa" if you ask me. Little bits of not right all over it. As above, if you honestly want it moved real quick, couple grand and call it quits. Average body, with average interior wouldnt be fetching to many, only if they plan to make it a track pig. Providing the engine internals are of good health and a good strong gearbox. That may be its only selling point. Otherwise as also mentioned get it home, host a mini tech day, or get some knowledgeable members to eye ball it. Will need a heap of tlc to get it anywhere near smooth running again. Especially if the previous owner did fritz the wiring.
thanks guys for all the input so far. yes the car is in warwick, as that is the only storage place i have for it, as i am personally living at uni in brisbane. also thought of hosting a tech day, however as some of you already said, there might be bits and pieces here and there that need to be done or added etc, so i can not actually get hold of the parts etc in advance, so that means there could basically be done nothing if i host a tech day, probably just a ''to do list''. other problem is that i am leaving back overseas in 3 weeks for summer, so therefore i am leaning more towards selling the whole car as is, and hoping to at least get something back so that i can put it to a running zed next year once i get back. so i am open to offers for the whole car as is. please feel free to pm me, cheers guys
will probably be putting the car into the ''for sale'' and ''parts'' section soon, to sell as a whole as is. car is unregistered, but australia compliance plated.
Dude you spend 4k...why would you want to settle for any less?? Get a tech day organised...or even have it sitting in the garage till you get back from holidays and then organise a tech day...the members of this forum would still help you 3 months down the track As for the parts you might need, there are zed specialists in qld...so get them to have a look at the zed and have them to have an estimate of what all parts you might need to get and then save up and get it... Or you could even do 2 tech days...one to figure out whats wrong and pull everything apart and check everything...then you willl know what all parts you will need...then once you have all the parts organise a second tech day and get some beers and have a bbq and you will have help getting your zed running...you will save a lot of money and time doing this instead of just selling it off as it is... Another option would be to get it towed to a professional and pay him to fix everything and make it running... Some free advice Abraham
Im just trying to give him some hope lol instead of seeing another zed getting stripped...or even see him loose like 3gz in a matter of weeks for a car he never even got to enjoy...if it was in vic and i knew anything about zeds i would come and help no matter how far it was think of cruising in the zed to the tech day or bbq lol Abraham
hey guys, thanks all for your thoughts and tips. you defs made me think about it twice whether i should sell it or try to get it running again step by step. so now i am more leaning towards giving it a second chance. firstly i will probably be doing a list of what is wrong, what needs to be done, and just in general to see if it is worth it or not to fix the car up, this i will hopefully be doing next week sunday, thanks to ''GOTTAGO'' who offered to come down if he can make it, and to have a look at the car and see what we can find and to sum everything up whether the car can have a second chance or not. so keep on holding those thumbs , maybe i might be lucky and i will go on with a process next year in getting the zed on the road again. hope this turns out positive, will keep you guys posted. and thanks again for all the feedback/ideas and help so far cheers
Hey man, I feel so shit for you. after hearing what you told me in person and reading this you got shafted something fierce. And to everyone else get this, the zed didnt even come with targa tops...what a douchebag... Id say get back and running dan, tech day bbq. All the best with whatever you decide to do. Matt.
Thanks Matt, yeah, i got really ripped off there. will see what i can do, also prefering in getting the car back running, to start enjoying her. looking forward to gottago's advice. and i will be in contact with you regarding parts havent texted you back yet, as i do not know yet what all i need, but i havent forgotten you. and it was great meeting you. thanks and will keep you updated
sweet. that's great gottago, feel free to sms me or send me another pm, so that we can arrange time etc. looking forward in hearing from you. cheers
Hiya danai , have you got somewhere in Brisbane you can store the car ?, if so get a couple of sensible mates a good 4x4 with a towbar a car trailer and haul it down to Brisbane. Then as a lot of the guys and gals have said, have a bit of a tech day to find out what's needed to be done. Then when your back from holidays, and you got some bucks together get the parts and have another tech day to get it up and vrooming. Now a serious piece of advice on your second tech day with all that beer, bbq, make sure there is some nice female eye candy from uni there to inspire the guys LOL LOL
