Well if you wanna drift your auto without the handbrake you could always make little water squirters in front of the rear tyres...hit the gas, they squirt water, you aquaplane, and you dont waste tyres. Problem solved IMO
well now i have a multitude of things to do.... what should be my first, and cheapest thing to attack? (painting the front bar isnt an option ATM martin)
Im not even going to read the rest. If you truly wish to keep what i have put in bold true. Dont bother with the zed. Keep it as your daily, as you will no doubtingly fudge something up, either panel or mechanically, than your daily is useless to you. Do what bracket did. Go find a cheap s13 and go use that. It will be much more practical to the cause and at least that way you can treat it like a pig. If it breaks, its not going to stop you from getting to work. I can understand the feeling, want and need to put your zed sideways, but in realistic terms. Its not what you want to use first up, practicing your skills. At least if its being used as a daily. Flip side. Best of luck with your new found fun.
bah, cant win with you nit pickers.... lol aside from the bar, im talking mechanical, the paint will be done in one big hit ive told you on so many occasions
If you get into drifting you won't ever be able to afford a respray lol. Unless you're like Cam, working and earning much more than the guys our age do. If it were me (I've planned this out a bit because I dream of an r32 4 door slider) I'd make sure the diff was in good nick, get a larger radiator and then go coilovers and adjustable camber arms. Then roll the guards like hell and fit dope wheels. Assuming it's reliable. If you were really cool you'd strip the interior too! Before all of that you need a stick shift. And your front bar painted. It's too bad you just got your radiator and auto tranny swapped with stockies huh mate
Chop, lock, weld and skid. It's not hard. Just go to a track day and try until something breaks then upgrade it. Buy a shit front bar, ripple strips eat em. Cheapi falcon tyres and I prefer stiff as **** suspension! Bump steer is the best way to enter final corners in 3rd lol.
uncle's the word i would love to strip her out and have her as a pig, but i dont think the missus will appreciate it for some odd reason SAW can come in handy cant it?
Saw's more expensive than a manual conversion, and ultimately, as cool as it sounds, not as good as a regular manual. Especially for what you want it for. If you drove your Z through miles and miles of traffic every day then maybe it'd be a good compromise.
manual is the future for the Z once i hit my greens ill be set to change her over so now the question remains... im going to start with camber arms, best bang for buck?
I picked up 4 camber arms and front tension rods for $250 posted... that was an a lucky find. Find JapSpec in the for sale by business section.
Touché, your abilities are what limits your end result. Whether you drive In drive out or drive in and get towed out. I guess I'm cynical about it as I've seen all to many over keen drivers take there daily onto the track and see them end up on there roof. One particular instance that I always remeber is a young guy in his daily driven r31 with angle ginder spec springs. Flip it. Causing himself damage and clearly not driving the car home anymore. It's all to easy to want to take your vehicle past it's ultimate limits..... Practicing. But like I said I bid you good luck with your new found interest. It truly is a feeling like no other. Just play it safe.
