You drove my car. I've had it set up with the tie rod spacers for over a year now. No issues. Just needs to be installed properly. Main things for drifting: Properly locking differential Tie rod spacers for extra steering. And, a super stiff suspension set up won't help my for drifting. Believe it or not, you do want some grip in the rear of the car while drifting. Look at the FormulaD cars running here in the US and you'll see a ton of squat in the rear end for grip. You do want something adjustable in the long run. http://youtu.be/loW3iDXTopg?hd=1 http://youtu.be/wF4IN7-t_dg?hd=1
Exactly my thoughts. To have a drift car, you're basically setting it up for grip. Like the settings I mentioned in my first reply, but that's more for dedicated drifting than a daily.
did that to my old auto... was a pain in the ass waiting till i get towards my greens then ill get the manual conversion going
I road race and drift my Z without changing settings. All I change are the rear tires. Air them up for drifting, drop down the pressures for road racing. But over all, alignment, mods, etc. everything transfer over without modifications. A well set up road race car would make an excellent drift car.
Yep. Build a good street car and you have a potential drifter. Just gotta do the diff and steering after that.
A road race car should have a proper differential in it anyways. I love the 2 way LSD in mine for road racing. Throttle steering everywhere.
That's true. But some can't stand 2 ways on the street. I'm not worried about that stuff anymore, I have a trailer haha.
Sorry to thread hi-jack but anyone here in perth willing to gimmi a hand / or a guide on gettin my 32 drifter setup for extra steering lock? ive hear the 32 has issues with getting these knuckles made / installed because of the double wishbone setup but i have no fkn idea what that even means. :br::br::br:
Actually, the set up isn't a problem. GTRs have knuckle modifications available. All you have to do it chop and weld the tie rod pick up point shorter.
Lemme rephrase. R32 and Z32s are nearly identical suspension set ups front and rear. Main differences are that the front knuckles on a Z32 are aluminum instead of the steel ones on an R32, and different shock attachments in the rear spindle, between the GTRs and GTS skylines. R33 and R34, that I'm not sure of, but, as long as the tie rod pick up point can be chopped and welded shorter like so: For this kind of fun (note: not my car):
Ahhh i see i see, Hmm so all it pretty much needs is that one part cut off, and welded shorter? If so i think any shop that has a welder should be able to do it hehe
GTS-t suspension setup is a bit different, although still double wishbone F/R. BNR32/HNR32 have nearly identical suspension to the Z32.
Quick tip to all those wanting to start off drifting: Just go out there and drive. Knuckle modifications are not needed when starting off. It is a pretty advanced modification and should be done after you are comfortable sliding the car, as the kuckle mod will allow you to hold deeper and longer drifts, but only if you know what to do with the extra steering angle.
