Sorry guys been a bit stuffed working 7 nights a week. As i was sorting the kits i noticed a problem with mounting hardware for the slim ballasts - seems ive been given the wrong size nuts n bolts for it! Well they are the correct size but the screwhole tab things on the ballasts are drilled too close to the ballast body so the bolt doesnt line up. Luckily it is a very hard plastic body and the quick solution i see is to take a drill to it and bore half a mill more. Im confident that wont cause an issue, unless you really have the shakes! Ive emailed the supplier and im waiting on a reply.
I wouldn't worry about it - if anyone who's been waiting for these doesn't have a drill or a few drill bits, they'll probably wish they didn't purchase these regardless! If the seller is overseas and has sold these on the cheap - you probably won't get a response (let alone replacement bolts). As long as the rest of the Brisbane purchasers don't object - I say "don't worry about this", please just send the kits as long as this is the only issue. Thanks.
yeah don't worry about it, I don't really know what you just described but I'm sure it can be easily fixed with a drill. If any WA members are not confident then I'll install it when you pick it up
Sweet ye im not waiting on the bloke to make any changes atm its too late now anyways. the little nut doesnt line up with the tab hole thingo that the little bolt goes through to secure the ballast to the brace. i wont bother with pics but you'll see what im talking about when you get it in a weeks time. the regular size ballasts dont have that issue - they clip on to the brace and its secure. the braces probably have to be drilled and bolted to the chassis somehow. or you can choose not to use the brace at all and mount it your own way i suppose.
Do you have my postal address? can't remember if i sent it to you, and as im taking NSW orders you may need it
got my kit installed last night. had no problems i made a brace under the head lights and bolted it there. will post up pics later one problem i found. after it was all fitted i started the car. turn on the lights and only the passenger side came on. had to flick between highbeam and lowbeam. for the drivers side light to charge up. tried agian today after work. same problem agian. it only happens when u first start the car. after that its all good anyone else get that problem?
Xenons take a few seconds to charge up to their max brightness... this is why people do the pex mod when they have both HID high & low beams. Does the driver's side light eventually charge up if you just leave it alone or do you have to flick the high/low beam? If so I'd be checking the connectors, or try switching the ballasts around.
Is there enough light from start to see where you're going at least? ie: Stock headlight strength... What is entailed in this 'pex mod'?
Pex's mod is just grounding one of the fuses so that when the high beams come on the low beams don't go off.
It's very momentary... not a problem with low beams but when you have them in your high beams, and you're travelling down a dark road at 100km/h, even 2secs of almost complete darkness could kill ya ergo, the pex mod
i think it is my connection cause i do have to flick betwenn high beam to get it going. shiit thing is the ballest is mounted behind the front bumper lol some stage i will have to take it off and have a look. i heatshrinked all the wiring so it wouldnt come loose connection. the ballasts can be either left or right cant they?
if you mean WA then I'm receiving them should've mounted it under the nose panel! Ballasts are the same left or right...
eh? I am not sure of who has ordered from SA yet, I would assume that there would be a list included in the shipment
Whoever took the NSW HID kits if they have arrived atm keep in mind that thre is a a ZX CRUISE taking place this sunday the 15th August meeting at Loftus (before the national park) Perhaps a good point to offload some.
