Well, with all that scary rain and nasty clouds in the morning, it was pleasant surprise and relief to encounter dry roads and moments of sunshine once heading out of geelong :) The cruise turned out to be heaps of fun without worry of wet slippery roads.

Another awesome day, with great people and great roads :) Nice to always see new faces.

I didnt get many photos, but I've just thrown up what I took. Nothing special. But there were heaps of cameras so there will be some better pictures following I guess :) I dont have any pics of the GOR run itself, too busy clutching steering wheel and gear knob :)

Thanks to BADZX and BigCol again for organising and getting us around :)

Meet up point where we met the geelong crew.... At this stage, still a little damp and dreary...

Great day, fun to look forwards and see only zeds, then check the rearview mirror, again only zeds.

Who was the unlucky guy in the silver zed who go done by the cops, I was right behind you at the time.

Damn those roads are great to drive :zlove:

The cop let him off once he spotted all the other Z's. Who said all cops are bad.

It is a great cruise Baz....

I don't know if its the best (haven't been on many cruises in other states), but it has fantastic roads and fantastic scenery. Although, only the passenger really gets to enjoy the scenery as the driver is usually concentrating on the car in front, the mountainous cliff face towering over you on one side and the stark reminder of a very sheer cliff face on the other side which will plunge you into the ocean :) You dont have to break the speed limit to have fun and on a day like today where there was only little traffic, its a great run. Especially the section from Apollo Bay to Lorne :)

    It wasn't a speeding I believe...

but rather a technicality on overtaking...

    Wow, very decent of him

Yes, overtook at the end of dashed, so just on the double lines

Good to see an enjoyable day was had.
Thanks for the pics Mark, it's good to see that RZ1 lives on - well done Ash & Brytech!

    Gor #8 - 2010

    Firstly 2 big congrats:
1/ The number of people who turned out for the day - 27 zeds + 2 non zeds (boo! - especially that skyline). Special mentions to MickW from Bendigo, and Roy from over new Moe.
2/ The driving behaviour of all who attended. The best in many years - well done peeps.

From a wet start, things progressed quite well weather wise. By the time we got through Colac the rain basically disappeared and left for most of the day. And kept the roads dry! The people that pulled because of the "weather" missed another great cruise!

Like Mark, I don't have any pics of the very start as I had a fairly important task to do (hey bRACKET!)... so I missed pics from the start line, and also at the Avalon fuelup. My pics start at the Ceres catchup where we met the Geelong crew.

From there we drove on to Colac, then through to Camperdown. First stop was Mt Leura lookout which the MCSA uses for Hillclimb competitions. Wykked runs here. Awesome experience but not particularly suited to our cars.

How's this for a mean starting line up for a race!

From there we cruised through some of the craters and twisty roads around Camperdown and made our way to Port Campbell for lunch! When we got out of the cars there was a bit of a cool breeze, but it was good! Put on a jumper, get some lunch, and chat with other zedders. What a way to spend the arvo!

And then it was time to cruise home - past the 12 Apostles, onto Laver's Hill, then Apollo Bay, then Lorne for a quick stop. For the first half of the trip from Apollo Bay to Lorne it was fantastic - very little traffic and dry roads! But the sn2 half blew chunks due to a dumbass in a blue Astra pissing us all off on purpose. Hmm, and unfortunately at Lorne some of the crew missed the turn off to the carpark and kept on going. Sorry about that. We stayed around chatting for about 30 mins before everybody started heading for home around 5..

All the GOR cruises the past few years has been Kingy's doing, so all thanks should go to him. All I do is get the Melb mob to Avalon, and sometimes take up the end of the snake to make sure nobody gets left behind. But well done Kingy!

And to and of the state crews, you are more than welcome to come down. If that happens we might need to extend it to a GOR weekend cruise!

absolutely brilliant pics, Big Col, especially that effect in some shots where the upfront/closer vehicles appear slightly "stretched" .... top stuff ...!!!

BUT: one word of warning .. Forum history suggests that you are NOT allowed to "boo" a skyline on a Zed cruise ... lol .... just ask Chrispy aka "that skinny kid" ...

Take 2 on posting this. Had a blackout halfway through the first attempt
As mentioned earlier, nothing was going to stop me from getting to the GOR run.
Plenty of rain made it a challenge to get the car onto the road. Everyone's front yard was a bit water logged. As you can see below the weather was determined to stop me going:

CFA showed up to assist the people next door who had water entering the house:

Our driveway getting washed away and no longer usable:

Had to cross this to get the car next door to the most usable driveway. This is where the trip nearly ended. Got a bit bogged but managed to slip slide my way through it:

The final part, crossing the usable driveway:

The rest was pretty much smooth sailing. A few flooded sections along the way:

Yeah Baz, the pics are taken with a wide angle lens and I'm too buggered tonight to do proper edits on the pics. But wide angle photography is interesting sub component to landscape.

I'm hoping that some of that booing will result in Benny boy arriving at a cruise in a zed again!

Bloody hell Ross, those pics are insane. Losing your driveway twice in a few months is seriously bad luck. Amazing you made it

I still have a big smile on my face. The run from Camperdown to Port Campbell was some of the best driving roads ever! It really lets you get the most out of your Zed.

Thanks to Kingy and Big Col for organising this great run. I've done some drives around the world and this has to be up there with the best.

I let my mate Richard drive a couple of times. His first time in a 300zx. Sorry if you were stuck behing the AVO 300ZX that was going slowly. At one point 2 girls, with P plates, in a Hyundai were beating us!

Good to meet a few people in person too. Putting faces to names makes a big difference!

Not sure what it is but since I moved here early this year, they've had the biggest downpours in about 30years. At least we're no longer in a drought. Will be trying to build the driveway up to a usable state tonight.

My favorite was the run from Apollo Bay to Anglesea. Really tight and twisty and I have to say it's the first time the zed really impressed me. :zlove:
Stuck to the road like glue despite less than ideal suspension. I did the same run in the supra (also stock suspension) and it really struggled for grip in the tight turns (running the same wheels as I now have on the zed). For a heavy car Nissan really got the setup right.
