ive decided to use the long weekend to do some Z work and am in the process of fitting my F40 replica wing and am not sure how to secure it , i thought when i removed the standard wing it would all become clear, but its not as it dosnt seem possiable to get into the hatch on the sides where it would fit , any info would be appreicated . thanks

yeah i was hopeing to avoid that so it would be removable, after seeing the mess removign the stock wing made but looks like it will be the only solution.

Y not just get long hex screws and go right thru form the inside of the hatch ?

    bit rough I kno :p

that had crossed my mind and i might still do that rather than just relying on the sikaflex , im just waiting for any better ideas .

    Did you do it ??

if so what bolts did you use and I am assuming you went all the way through the hatch ?

I dont think he would have bolted anything, unless he tapped a thread into the wing

Probably used some 14 gauge self tappers or tec srews.

figrd that. I was going to just use hex bits in the first place like some heavy gauge timber ones coz the spacing in the thread is bigger over steel ones.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... you would want a finer thread. The finer the thread, the better it holds. You would want the steel ones (wing tecs) anyway because they have little wings at the bottom which will make it easier to cut into your boot.

is there a collar or anything in there or you just taped out a thread into the fiberglass ?

theres a collar in there, you can drill a hole and glue a nut in there i guess

Could possibly be a nutsert loctited in there or something???

Most of these wings have nutserts in them to attach them. BUT DONT USE THEM.

IMO you are crazy to drill holes in the hatch to attach this. Didnt you see the rust forming when you took the stock wing off?

Just glue the bastard with Sikaflex and feel good in the knowledge it wont rust the hatch at the screw holes.

too late for me i have now drilled the holes , but i was amazed at the rust under the stock wing , although its the wing itself that rusts not the actual car , as the replacment is figerglass hopefully that wont be a problem.
