the key is that they dont have evidence that you were speeding either

In australia you dont have to prove your inocence, they have to prove your guilt. If they have no evidence, they loose.

That's how it works in theory - most of the time you DO have to prove your innocence.

 

i know this post is 2 yrs old but..

cops are counted as EXPERT whitnesses in court,
with you being a average joe, your word vs theirs = you being anal bashed.
SAD but true.

oh and they know it too.. dirty of them,
i spoke to 3 cops today near crown, my brother and his mate were drinking alchohol, i just had coke as i cbf spending money and they let us off the $200 fines because we were all cheers for them, they saw us a mile away and we saw them a mile away but didnt try and hide the evidence or be idiots about it.
We even had a word about toggies with them, and when mentioned they pretty much rolled their eyes.
