I noticed the other day when yellaZed sold his dash kit that within 10 minutes of it being posted he had had 3 enquires and it would have been bought by all 3 of them had he had 3 kits. That kinda woke me up as I had thought that I was the only person who really wanted this stuff. I had been looking at buying a kit from a company in the US called american dash.
    Clicky Clicky
So i contacted them about a possible group buy and they were quite willing to help out. Here's what they offered:
    Kits purchased 5-10 $110.00
    Kits purchased 11-20 $95.00
    Kits purchased 21 - up $89.00
NOTE: THESE PRICES ARE BEFORE ANY SHIPPING (IE STILL IN THE US) also not sure if its USD or AUD atm (email comming)

I had calculated the cost for a single kit delivered and it worked out to be around 170-180 bucks Australian. (which is a sh1tload better than you might find at UAS for example who want around 900 big ones for a CF kit) I had samples sent to me and they looked good and had a thick protective coating on them which seems practical considering you might leave keys or tools on them etc.

Now problem with getting more than one at a time is that we have to pay GST, then I have to post to each individual member, which YellaZed said cost around 9-10 dollars each. So here is the prices including GST and domestic shipping:
    Kits purchased 5-10 $131.00
    Kits purchased 11-20 $114.00
    Kits purchased 21 - up $108.00
HOWEVER they can't give me an estimate for shipping from them to me until we give them some numbers (ie how many we are getting and what type people want)

Now as far as I know the CF(carbon Fibre) and BA (Brushed Aluminum) kits will cost the same for this group buy (unlike an individual purchase, but I have sent another email asking just to make sure.)

Feel free to browse their site and send me any questions you have about the kits via email so I can forward them on to american dash.

I can't see anything wrong with you guys asking for your own samples, but keep in mind they think the samples are so that you can compare 2 different materials and see which you prefer, not just to check out their shite. But if your going to do that please still post your interest here so that I can get an idea of numbers as to whether this is going to happen or not

    might work out cheaper

if we buy as a group but get it sent individually as chances of GST are pretty low considering the price. Also could you ask them if they are willing to make a modified version without the hole for the factory clock.
    Cheers

I've got this kit installed in my car. WARNING!!!!

Make sure you get the UK Version instead of the USA.

Difference being that the clock is on the opposite side.

I had to physically cut the plastic so that the clock is on the correct side. but now has a blank spot on the left where it had nothing.

Also. The sun really gets to these kits and they start lifting rather quickly.

The kit just sticks on top of the actual plastic in the car itself.

The Ashtray piece sits too high and it is difficult to open.

Suggest you look into finding the UK version of the KIT and you can get a full kit which includes more pieces that run along above the dash itself. And also includes the dash surround as well.

    Just a suggestion and information.

i'll take some pics for you if you'd like.

Fate you beat me to it, the picture shown above is for a LHD vehicle, so make sure that you get the correct type. At any rate I'd be interested if I could get the kit in wood grain.

awesome, thanks for the info fate!

may well have saved us all some nasties!
pics would be great, could you send them to:
    aj.robinson@adfa.edu.au

Maybe this place in WA is the better option, but the kit is a lot less extensive, especially for us manual types.

Maybe if someone gave them the template picture and asked them to make the extra bits??

Anyway, I sent them an email asking and when I know I'll post up here including prices.

I got one of these in my room still

I got it from Coyote, so maybe someone can ask him where he got it from and how much. I think it was sent from the US from the looks.

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

    LHD vs RHD ...

There's more than just the clock position to consider in the LHD vs RHD patterns. The power window switch surrounds are different, and not reversible. There may be other minor differences, not sure.

The site posted does offer an RHD version in the 300ZX, but has the same component pic as the LHD. An email would probably clear up any concerns about the RHD kit. The kit that Zisluv posted definitely looks RHD to me.

    Sorry

I should of been a bit clearer. Yes its definately a RHD kit, what I meant when I said it looks to have come from the US is by the stamps etc on the box. Sent from somewhere in Brooklyn by the looks.

Still no word from that place in WA

Maybe someone local could visit and ask them to check their email, or take a print-out of the template to see if they could make the other bits for us.

But just out of interest how many people would be buying a kit if we find a good supply of these kits?
