With my V8 project progressing I want to replace most of the boring rubber hoses around and on my engine with shinny anodised fittings and braided hose

It's as dear as poison to buy in Aus, so I was going to put in a order through one of the US companies. I'm mainly looking at Jegs due to their great pricing and they also make black fittings and lines.

Post up your interest and approx number and type of fitting and hose you are after. I may buy 20 foot lengths and cut to length for people as it's a LOT cheaper the more you buy.

    Some piccies to entice you....

Nylon braided hose, good pressure rating and lighter than the stainless braid.

    Black fittings! Sexy!

    Traditional Red and Blue.

Most fittings range from the $4 to $30 mark depending on size and how weird and wonderful they are. Once we have a nice list of bits that are wanted I'll get in contact with them and see if they will do us better pricing.

Full listing can be found here:

    Clicky

They also sell Aeromotive and Earls if you are so inclined.

If any of our local suppliers can offer competitive prices please let us know...

I'll leave this open for 2-3 weeks to gauge interest. If no one else wants any I'll just put through a order for myself.

I'm in the same boat, Not sure what I need as yet.

I'm going to replace alot of the fuel line, and run a dual in-out to the fuel rail, with a relocated fuel filter. So I need to find out what fittings will go into the fuel rails, and what size fuel hose etc.

Plus I need oil line for the oil cooler etc etc etc.
I'll see if I can compile a list.
Also if anyone can comment onvarious thread sizes etc that would be great :)

Using these lines can get out of hand. I know a drag racer with a 20B FD and he has spent approx $6k on braided lines and fittings. Looks nice though

Since no one really knows what they are after, maybe I should put together little kits, such as fuel lines, PCV, PCV reroute, major vac, balance tube replacement, brake vac, clutch vac etc.

I'll need to borrow a TT to have a good squiz at though.

Some will require the plennum etc to be tapped (probably to NPT, as the Americans like that thread)

I'll see if I can dig up a measurement conversion chart between AN and normal :p

Can probably get big external pumps and filters if others are interested.

Yep little kits would be good :)
That way ppl could pick and choose which one they want.
Not real keen on the tapping idea

    Legalities?

Does anyone know the legalities of say running a single piece of this as the fuel line from the rear to the front?

If so this may be a nicer solution than using my HICAS lines and also result in FAR less joins.

With that said im in for some and fittings to sort out my fuel system so i'll have a look through.

I can't forsee any problems. I don't recall seeing anything within the NCOP for mods, and if it's anything like the brake lines then if must meet a recognised international standard and be sufficiently attached to the car. I will let people do their own research into the matter.

I DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THESE ARE ROAD LEGAL!

Do your own research and make an informed decision. If I find relevant info I will post up the link or source. I do know that these lines meet all the relevant standards for all levels of motorsport, so the quality isn't an issue.

Jinxed, I wouldn't think that the colours can be mixed and matched. I'll look into it though as Red and Black would look good and match the rest of my engine ;)

chrispy .. one possible kit/application would be the

brake booster hoses ... and noting that there is a difference between the TT and NA set ups .....

    Hi Chrispy,

I will be in this one for sure. Definitely up for a Russell Competition fuel filter as per http://www.jegs.com/p/Russell/745102/10002/-1/10293 with black fittings. Just gotta select which fittings I want. Might even buy 2 filters, can't decide between black and polished.

    Cheers, Mikey.

What sorta power levels would they be good for? Assuming twin..

Can't say. This link is the manufacturer's own website, and doesn't list what power its good to: http://www.russellperformance.com/mc/fuel/filters-comp.shtml

I have seen elsewhere that they are rated to 1000hp; but that info doesn't appear to be backed up by the maker, so take it with a grain of salt. For example: http://sctuned.com/russell/russell-competition-fuel-filter/645000/i-100234.aspx click the product description tab at the bottom.

I don't want any hassles like with the brake line GB....

I'll try and work out approx prices for common hoses in the next few days.

Good lord I am all over this one like a rash!

Nylon braided hose with black fittings for me.

I'm interested in a whole bunch, but as Im a numpty like many people on here, it is hard to get the fittings correct without a lot of research...I think kits would be fantastic!

Thanks again for making a effort to help out the rest of us!
