Just thought I would let people know I'm running e85 on stock fuel pump and sard 800's throught the stock fuel line but with repco meth safe rubber lines. Was easier to tune it on e85 than pump. Smells like weird vodka. Kinda teaching myself how to tune on my shitty old motor. It's quite addictive *MODERATORS NOTE. threads merged, same title.
**** man what kind of fuel pressure are you running to pick up the slack from the standard pump? haha

Not sure if this is what you meant, but if the pump is not able to move the required volume of fuel, you won't be able to increase the fuel pressure to take up the slack. Depending on the mods to the engine I'm not surprised the stock pump has no trouble pumping the required extra fuel to run E85. Stock or mildly modified engine and mild boost levels shouldn't be a problem.
You're going to find the stock pump will run out of flow real soon The 800's will hold up fine but the pump wont and chances are it may die. What lambda are you tuning it to? Few things i was going to say, are you using a dyno? I'd recommend you dyno tune E85 so you can see how much timing it will take before MBT, because with E85 you can go beyond MBT and not ping but go too far and it will. E85 pinging doesn't quite sound the same as 98 pinging so be careful.
I think stock pump will be ok but only time will tell. The biggest killer for my stock pump is the high base pressure (55psi) for my nitrous jets and better atomization. Walbro 460 on standby Idle 14.7-15 Transbrake boost transition 13:1 (strange part of the map) Boost 11.7-12 Oh e85 doesn't like been rich either. All fun and games until someone loses a piston
Spot on, will be going to a dyno to get it tuned. Running same conservative timing as before. This is me just mucking around and learning. Starts sooooo nice now. Just flick the key. Adjusted a fair bit to get it how I want it.
update: ok I am running 20-21 psi and 25-24 degrees of timing with 12:1 and the stock fuel pump hasnt give up yet. I am currently sitting around low 80's in duty cycle on sard 800's..... thats alot of fuel. so stock fuel pump and lines with single entry exit ezzupturbo fuel rail and turbosmart fpr. I believe that I will be upgrading my fuel lines for my turbo kit. it does need alot of fuel. I dont know how fast its going but will find out next week. dont think its THAT quick atm
nup. going on the blacktop dyno next week. my timing map is from the most experienced guy in the world with stock turbo e85 zeds thrashed it for a long time. used half a tank of fuel which didnt take long at all. not a sign of anything going bad......YET
That some awesome ignition advance you're running there, well done Out of curiosity, how long have you been running E85 for now?
Hahahaha 4 tanks. Over a couple of months sitting in the tank. I'm trying to empty it for fresh stuff on weds. To be dead honest I don't know if the ignition advance is too far and I will pull some out and see if It traps faster at the track. Fuel requirements are large. Guy in US was at 84 duty cycle on dyno but on the street he went to 92 with 740 nismo. I'm on 800's and stock pump and I reckon that's borderline as I'm on 85%. so pretty much on par with what the US guy is running fuel wise (not sure on his timing) I'm a hack not a tuner and just having fun/learning. So I'm very much expecting this to go pop. Still stock dumps and test pipes.
good to see another Z on E85. Be good to see when the stock fuel pump reaches its limit on E85 and stock turbos . Worst case a walbro upgrade is cheap . Just have my car started ...running on E85 .. clean smell .
any updates ? have you dynod and pushed it further ? :br: im personally soon to tune on e85 and was thinking about changing the stock new fuel pump i had installed recently... but im intrigued by yours still being adequate
Nah no dyno sorry man. I might push it further but hanging to get my big turbos on this motor and direct port nitrous. What turbos are you running?
hey great to see your on E85 - its where I want to eventually go! Do you know how much HP sard 800's give on E85 and what's the max duty cycle get up to on full acceleration (does it get to 100% at any time) ? Cheers
