I must say a BIG thanks to Fists as this post got us searching and whilst the mufflers were not collapsed, they certainly were more restrictive than we had given them credit. We have now removed them and have straight through exhausts from the turbo's. Whilst we have not put her back on the dyno, we are not seeing any boost loss either so are now looking forward to a track session to see how high we can tweak the boost. She's a bit loud for the street however.
Again a big thanks to "Fists" We have dropped the original mufflers and now run a pair of small straight the units. Pulls and holds 18psi now without any loss Certainly looking forward to Morgan Park next weekend. Love it, this is what "backpressure" is people. Its not good for you at all! You going flex fuel at all mate?
"Flex" Fuel, if you mean e-85 Yes thats where this all started Car seems to go amazingly well and can't wait to get it on the track so I can really see how much has changed. The blast up Springbrook mountain last weekend certainly got the heart pumping but didn't do me any favours in the "Good Neighbour" category (LoL) Plus I managed to come off second best with a small rock slide at around 160k's that resulted in the replacement of the intermediate pipes per the pics on my last post.
These were from MAX NZ and to be honest cannot say a great deal yet as I haven't had time to come to grips with the car since doing the mods. They appear to load up the rear nicely, but I guess next weekend at MP will tell the full story.
I do like to be helpful, the new exhaust bits look pretty cool so I'll probably tell people they were my idea Flex fuel refers to being able to run standard pump 98 or E85 and any mix of the two, good for flexibility if you travel in the car or don't want to have to take drums when you go to other race tracks.
Cheers for that, Yeah those dumps look good. Flex hey! Well then the answer is no, this is pretty much a track car now (although it is still road registered) so am happy with the need to run just e-85, besides the Caltex 5 mins away from home has it so its pretty easy to get.
I think you'll find the Caltex is probably e70 at best, especially in winter. You're better off getting it from United, will be more consistent.
