Any pros and cons on em?

    thanks

search last weeks thread by racespec,it was discussed ;) ive got to ask jez,why are you thinking of getting them when you have no idea if they are good or bad and dont know if they add performance ?????

    Dual Pod Difference

Very little difference will be noticed, especially on a stock car. Even on my car @ 18psi I could barely notice anything.

Racespec and ZRATED were selling them recently. If you are close to stock it won't make a difference.

Ok but wat about engine maintence. Will having 2 dual pod filters help prevent engine maintence somehow by putting cleaner air into the engine. Im not mechanically minded so if this sounds like a stupiod question dont shot me. Are there any benefits of having 2 pod filters in a stock none racing car?????

actually, i was thinking of getting one SI - and dont know much about em, hence why i am asking the forum for there opinions - as for your : Quote "why are you thinking of getting them when you have no idea if they are good or bad and dont know if they add performance ?????" - i really didnt need to justify myself to your questions hence my reply was what i said

To do it properly you need.
    2 AFM
    1 AFC
    2 POD
    1 ECU chip
    Pipe work.

The hp/$ ratio is very low. Only really necessary for cars at the 400whp level and above due to limits of AFM.

    10hp gain @ 400hp level.

Yeah Im thinking HP/$ gain is way to minimal to worry about doing this....like ZDUCTIV said, youd need at least some type of ECU modification or chip swap to integrate a second AFM.

Good luck anyway if you go ahead with it.

    Cheers!

big power car moving lots of air might notice a small difference. on stock cars it's a waste of time.

    Yep,

I changed to a full dual pod setup. pods in the front corners, so no pipes under the nose anymore.

Dyno'd last week and the car went from 283rwkw to 290. So that's 9 more rwkw or 12 rwhp.

I also went to aftermarket ECU also, but it dosen't look like that gave me any more power in itself, just allowed a more customised tune.

So around 10 more hp in a 400hp car is about spot on. Bear in mind my setup isn't one of those twin pod under the nose setups too.

I have noticed the induction noise is a bit louder, car sounds better. You can hear the bovs alot more, not necessarly a good thing ;), and the engine seems to rev slightly quicker and therefore the turbos spool a bit faster. might be in my head though lol.

    Was the air temp different?

10 hp on a 400 hp car is around 2%-3%. A temperature difference of only 2-3 degrees could account for that.

wat do the stock pipes weigh

would it be worth a set up like ben's for the weight
do you think you lost much ben?

Not knowing the air temps from before I couldn't say if that made any difference. And different dyno too.

First run was at UAS dyno day last year - 283rwkw
Then C&V performance later last year, probly hotter day - 276rwkw
And last week at Castle hill exhausts, pretty cool but not real cold - 292rwkw.

We'll see what happens back at UAS later this month at the up-coming dyno day for a more direct comparison.

The current setup has got to weigh at least less than half of the old closer to stock setup. But I did away with the AFM also so that made fitment of the pods alot easier.
On any car with stock turbos though I would doubt that dual pods of any configuration will make any difference. My setup has pretty much shown that the old AFM and single pod wasen't really causing any big power restriction.
So end result, i'm happy i've done it and it sounds great, and gives a nice clean airflow to the radiator which is what I wanted, but did it help power? Probably not.

i think you're right on the money. was your single system causing a restriction currently? probably not. would it cause a restriction if you increase your power level? id say so.
