Took DREDZ to Wallards for a pre-Easter service, with a slight overheating symptom. Bad news - oil in the coolant! Bugger! Bugger! Bugger! Bugger! Bugger! Does this mean the end for my Widdle Wed Woad Wocket? Hopefully, it's just a head gasket but that may be misty-optics rather than optimistic. There was no water in the oil, so obviously the problem is on the low pressure side of things, but, aw, bugger again! Looking for a TT engine, anyone know of one for sale?
Try Osaka imports in Knox (they were previously on Kangaroo rd in Oakleigh). I was there a few weeks ago and I am pretty sure they had a later model half-cut TT.
IF it's ONLY a head gasket, I'll stay NA. But IF it's more drastic (cracked head or block), why not go TT?
Fair enough,I cant think of any other places oil could contaminate the coolant other than a head gasket. at the worst maybe a warped head.
if i was u doug id just get another running n/a engine cheap as and drop it in for now a days work easy... then start to gather parts for a tt build or swap and once u have eveyrthing etc etc then plan to do the swap...
Chad, if it's ONLY an engine replacement, I would rather go straight to TT. It's not something I would do myself, so that means paying my mechanics to do it twice. For the cash outlay, going NA and then later TT would be a double cost/jeopardy. Either way, there are no guarantees (generally) with replacement engines.
point taken but to get the car running buy a $500-1000 n/a eng. drop it in blah blah when time comes to do tt swap sell the n/a eng for $500-1000~ dont really see you loosing much at all plus you could have a car running while collecting all the tt parts by the end of this weekend
No, the point is that I can still get around in my bunky '92 Camry until I decide what to do with the Zed! Also, I like the idea of a TT Ausspec. (although it may be expensive).
