i'm not surprised... that part of the timing map runs anywhere from 38-41 degree's timing. When I had my unichip installed, the guys there told me that they see this quite often in jap cars because they run high timing... but its only a small area of the map, and most people wouldnt be aware of pinging unless it was really really loud... does yours ping only in hot weather Col or all the time? hmmm.... yeah I agree, aus-spec NA's should run quite happy on 91 RON fuel.... and some do quite happily... but there also seems to be a significant proportion of cars that dont.... wierd..... maybe 15 years of carbon build up and worn components makes pinging more susceptible, especially on warm days.... who knows...
