Sorry to here you got pinged. I'm not sure who can help you, but perhaps some of the ACT members may
know a friendly engineer??. Did they get you to remove the nose panel to see your pods?

nah champ, they went over it real hard but, n searched down there 4 the bov's,seen the pods and he said it needed to be engineered, but i thought it would be fine, because its not really in the engine bay, it was all part of the fmic from just jap, they have an adaptor to put to pods on, comes with 2 foam filters, looks the part!

Well here in Vic certain type of pod filters are LEGAL. I spoke to vic roads about it to make sure it was legal...they said as long as its a dry type pod filter (not an opil type) and you dont have the structurally modify the car in any way (even one new screw hole) oh and if it doesnt increase emmissions levels etc then its all good :)

The thing to note is from what Ive read you cant have a pod filter AND a FMIC...you can only have one type...i think its basically because the emmesions are basically guarenteed to be over allowable levels...

the rule is your only allowed to have ONE mod to your turbo.

    SMIC... FTW

its still a mod, but i doubt they would pick them up... that way you "can" still have the pod filter :) :D

That's the stupidest thing Ive ever heard, so if you wash a pre-oiled pod filter and dont re-oil it then it magically becomes legal again? There's no way that's right.

An oil type pod filter NEEDS oil to work properly, so if you run it without oil, Im sure you will kill it soon enough. The main reason is that it oil is flammable....a pod filter designed to run without oil simply doesnt have that issue.

its not apples apples, so its not 'stupid'.

If he'd have done that to me, all he'd see if a big steel plate :)

Good for saving you from slash damage too :D

u can't see my POD at all without removing something. + its properly secured so its all good if it does get inspected.

Sorry to hear your story though. Deinatly sucks of a academy newbie making a point. As he knew where to look, I'd put $50 on him having a modded HPI of his own in his garage.

Wow oil is flammable? Who would of thought! :p I'm pretty sure the law is if the oiled filter is covered i.e airbox then it is legal, and if it's not covered then it has to be the un-oiled type. But I believe the legalities are more to do with the Australian Design Regulations than anything else such as emissions and what not as you also suggested.

So strict for you mainland boys

I pulled up at my local servo one day...pulled up next to a cop car with 4 of them inside at the adjacent pump. I didnt have my bonnet on or my front bar on at the time. The coppers jumped out and had a look. They complimented me on my engine bay bling and how good the FMIC looks without the bar on. He noticed my pod filter and BOVs and told me it looks like a pretty mean machine and a goodbye comment with "well done mate"

We get it easy down in Tas
