Too much chrome sniffing/licking Norm. A few hundred for the tail lights. I'm happy with 400. I don't know yet about the headlight conversions but they'd be a fair bit cheaper I'd say. I told him I want a real bright driving halo's and I don't think that would increase the price too much. And I'll push to have them all done by the tech day. Might even leave installing them to then.
I'm interested to see the outcome of this! What about a polycarbonate headlight cover that is smooth, I.e. Has no nipples lumps and bumps in it etc. This was a possibility a while ago but I don't think it got finnished. This would update an otherwise top looking headlight!
I'm dropping off a set of headlights tomorrow with instructions to modify them to modern looks. I sent him the post too. Will keep yous posted on that one. The tail lights, he's awaiting delivery of the big LED boards and then he'll assemble them. He already had the lens's worked out he said. Hang in there, I'll up-date ASAP.
Could you please ask him how much to just do the pin-striping and change orange to clear? (ie make them 2k spec copies) Maybe that will be sub $250 mark
Theres a tech guide on DIY 2k spec tail lights for under $40 The need of a dremel is why i havnt bothered.
Gargoyle it wouldnt be all that hard to do yourself only fiddly bit would be sourcing plastic diffuser locally.
you can get plastic defuser everywhere. laser and turret punching services in canning vale have shite loads of off cuts. you could even give them a template and they will lasercut a heap of them
Up-date. Here's what I got today. "As discussed i will install the angel eyes and maybe come up with Polycarbonate lens, they will certainly only be a prototype to start with though". Looks like the tail lights aren't too far away either.
I have a guy making vacuum form patterns for a poly carbonate version of these as we speak.
wont be too expensive. Its a side job for him so I cant rush him too much. Might take a few more months to get the plugs finshed. I was getting them done to reduce the wieght of the lights for the race car.
Up-date. As luck has it the dorks who made up the LED boards have stuffed up and they've been sent back. My man was onto it and a new lot is being made, this time with clear instructions of what's needed. I dropped off a set of headlights to him today so he can start work on those. Both lights HID's and a driving halo with polycarbonate lens. He's very sure he can do the lenses which is great news. A couple of more weeks and we should be there.
