Good luck! Might be worth removing the fuel pump relay and cranking before you do your restart.

Nah, not yet. Went back to sleep... had a night shift so figured it could wait another day. Feeling confident though so we'll see. :)

Hmmm, if ur still having issues after the plugs dry out, maybe ditch sav's tune and try a base tune with the injector re-size. Switch the Selin to add (or is it average?)... whichever one u can just throw another afm onto and give it shot. :)

You and me both mate lol. Stupid life commitments! Argh! :p

Yea I think that is the next resort if it doesn't start tomorrow. Selin is set to Average reading from both MAFs at the moment.

Nnnope, just got home, 3 hours over due from my shift that finished at 7. Long story.

Bad news: Zed can wait, I need sleeeeeep!

Good news: Last night shift tonight, 4 days off starts tomorrow morning and you can guess what I'll be doing the second I come through the door tomorrow morning eh? :D

Well now we know that definately doesn't work.

Actually, the real reason is quite embarrassing...

See, being new to Nistune, I didn't know you had to sync to the ECU, then hit the other burn button to make the changes permanent... so when I switched it off that first time with original first tune from Sav.... yea, it went.

Even more frightening was after figuring this out right before I put Toshi's tune on I decided to resync the tune off the ECU and noticed it was blank... and I mean absolutely empty. Every cell had the same absurd number. Be it fuel map, timing and everything...

Anyhow, in hindsight I believe there wasn't anything wrong with the tune but how I uploaded it. Because I, first of all, before cranking for the first time, uploaded tune, cranked with fuel pump fuse out for 30 seconds, switched car off (tune lost), put fuel pump fuse in... and you know the rest.

I might go back and try Sav's tune again now that I know what I did wrong to see if it'll work.

    Anyhow, mystery solved.

    Great news.
    don't be embarrassed about that.
Its often the little things that trip us up.
You followed a methodical diagnosis process by eliminating possible problems
    eg. compression, fuel, spark.
What is left therfore must be the problem.
Never take for granted that because you have done something it must be ok.
Double checking and process of elimination will win every time.
    Congratulations. its alive!

Now get your ass into gear and finish the rest :)

IMO, I wouldn't go back to Sav's tune. Too much time and money gone into this engine to risk it on a tune for another engine.

If it was my engine, I'd stick to a stock map with modified injector values and low boost (wastegate pressure ie boost controller off) until you can afford a propper tune.

    My 2c.

    From my build thread:

Toshi sent me 3 tunes. All base tunes with changes settings for Injectors. One Lean, Rich and Average. At the moment its using the Lean one, probably tomorrow I'll go back and start swapping out the tunes and see how it feels on the others (doubt I'll see/feel a difference though). Ideally, I'd like to use the Lean one for economy, and the Rich one to run it in. We'll see how it goes though.

And yes, I was going to run it in with the EBC switched off. Silly me I never did find out what PSI the Actuators are set at, I think it's 12, but I'm not sure.

Dealing with Computers since I was 5, you kinda have to be good a problem solving / trouble shooting or you'll always be on the phone with Tech Support lol.

I was never 100% sure about the tune, only 'pretty' sure, having never used Nistune it seemed obvious to include in the list of possible faults. Everything, I was quite confident in my work.

And thank you again, throughout the build for your support mate.

Just make the courier booking a short while ago to swing down to Victoria to pick up a new set of Fenders, and she'll be going into the Exhaust Shop in a day or two, once those two things are done... shes all set to get back on the road instantly. :D

When you say lean... nothing dangerous I take it?

I doubt Toshi would send me something that would destroy my engine, so I would say 'slightly leaner' then usual, and the same for the Rich tune.

Do you have a standard tune with the only adjustments K Value for injectors and Selin intake? If not this is basically the only tune I would want until you put it on the dyno (first 1000km on low boost).

We're all here to support each other. I know how working on your own can sometimes be disheartening.

New fenders eh? Should look good, a Black car with Red fenders.

I was thinking about this the other day, I don't think the Selin Intake needs any adjustment be made in the tune. Because from the point of view of the ECU it is still receiving a voltage within the standard 0-5V (as if a single MAF), the Selin unit will take both readings (from 2 MAFs) and average them to avoid you having to go into Nistune and tell it to half the reading as if you were running a dual intake /w single MAF system. Happy to be proven wrong if someone who knows better can explain? But this is the conclusion I've come to.

So I believe all that was needed in my case was a base tune with Injector setting changes to accommodate. Which is exactly what has been done now. Base tune, Injectors set to 750CC and fuel map slight leaned, left standard or slightly richer in the form of the 3 *.bin files mentioned, with currently the lean version on there.
