I need all you 300zx owners/enthusiasts to help me out here. I need a reliable source of information. Can you tell me for your 300zx: How much it costs to fill up the tank How far that tank get's you Common problems you have with your 300zx And i need info on the following Common problems 300zx owners should expect The availibility of Parts in AUS How much parts cost (relative to things like imprezas and lancers) And any other information you think I'll need to convince my parents that a 300zx is not a slow, fat, expensive waste of time. thanks alot guys
well i dont know if this is gonna help but i fill my 300zx up for $70 and only get 250-300k's a tank, its not cheap to own a zed
Well since you clearly have the best name ever, my answers above. I dont want to discourage you too much but they are expensive, although put in the research to find a good one and dont fall in the love with the first one you see and it shouldnt be too bad, at least until the modifying bug kicks in, and it will.
solution is simple- lacking parents, I gave my mother a 2+2 TT 300zx. Suffice to say, she is now a huge fan of them
most zeds you see at dealers, ebay etc. are really junk (unless you hit the jackpot). If you want to convince them, show em tektraders
tektraders is a great example of a reliable zed that's in mint condition, good thinking frysie the parents cant hate on that car lol
Im actually looking at the gloss red 300zx Zxboss has up for sale : http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=315926 We negotiated a pretty awesome price but they still refuse to believe they are a practical car.
Too much. Not far enough. It's cop bait, uses lots of fuel, costs me an arm and a leg to maintain, is rubbish for carting people around, there's heaps to go wrong and it's so damned low I can't get down my own driveway. A Z32 is like having one year old child. They are unpredictable, much too loud, hellishly inconvenient and keep you up at night very, very often. But if someone tried to take it away, you'd kill them.
Tell your parents they are slow as hell and will use so much fuel you will be home all the time. Oh and a Zed will get you laid real quick so you will soon be off there hands. Good luck mate.
Dude, my parent's weren't fond of me getting one for my first car either due to the power they have. My old man now enjoys driving it more then his XR6, and completely understands why I got it. In the end it's your first car, not theirs
This entire thread just makes me  You've noted that you're trying to convince your parents, about buying a Zed. The conclusion I draw is that you're young, and that you are in a position that you need to convince your parents to agree about buying one, which may also suggest they are helping financially. Having taken all that into account. You're better off trying to convince your parents to buy you a Maserati considering that if you manage to convince them to buy a Zed, they'll want a cheap one, which you'll soon discover is ANYTHING but cheap in the long run... so I say cut out the frustration and just work on them to buy a Maserati lol. Seriously, if you can't afford a Zed on your own, its very unfair to pawn off a huge financial commitment to someone else just so you can have one. They are not cheap to keep on the road unless you drop a ton of dosh on a mint condition one, which I guarantee you, your parents will hit you back with "but this is one is less then half, and kinda looks better...", my advice is to just lurk the forums for a good while. Learn as much as you can about these cars, and if you're still keen for the huge challenge, dive in, a little older and a little wiser. MoulaZX
they are shit heaps that drink money. great when working properly and thrashed on a weekend but unless you like doing maintenance buy a something cheaper to use as regular transport.
Chances are if you buy a cheap zed you will end up in tears, and selling it broken for 1/10th of what it cost your parents. Reliability? I own two so I have one to drive when the other one breaks down. Fuel economy? Shit. Actually they're not that bad but you will keep trying to get your right foot through the firewall which will turn your fuel economy to shit. Practicality? This will probably open up a can of worms but this is just my opinion. 2+0 is shit but more fun to drive. 2+2 feels like a bigger slower car but has back seats for any models you find stranded on the side of the road, and you can fold the back seats down for more usable boot space. Also I see the one you're looking at is turbo. For the love of god please don't get a tt for your first car. Not just for you or your parents sake, but for all the other cars/power poles around you. Na has plenty of power for you to scare yourself and everybody else, and has less to go wrong.
Or you can just man up and buy one. Ive had two under the age of 21 and if you maintain it as per a 20 year old sports car, you should be ok.
^^Best. Quote. Ever. And very true, in the first couple of months of owning mine(which is in awesome condition mostly), had my MAF go, replaced all my hoses (which wasn't cheap) and now my 20yr old turbos are gone. But while it was working it was great. Not cheap on fuel, mostly practical for what i needed it for, but love it regardless. Jus be prepared for things to go wrong, but there's lotsa help on this forum for when that does happen
That actually looks like a good buy. I don't like the front bar, but the specs sound great. Liam according to your profile your 16 ? Find a local car thats for sale and is in a similar condition(price not important) Then get your dad to take it for a test drive to get an idea of what hes letting his son buy. This probably wont help your cause A defensive driving course would be a good idea too
